Location

The hotel of the PortoBay group is located above the Lido, separated from the sea only by the promenade. The city center is approx. 2.5 km away. Very close to the hotel is a shopping center with numerous shops. The airport is approx. 19 km away.

The comfortable 4-star hotel is located in the Vila Porto Mare resort and has 146 studios and suites. It offers its guests a lobby with reception, elevator, 4 restaurants (one of which is a buffet restaurant), 3 bars, and internet access (free of charge). In the garden area, there are 2 swimming pools, a children's pool, a pool bar, and a sun terrace (sun loungers, bath towels, and parasols at the pool included). All facilities of the Vila Porto Mare resort can be used.

Studio side sea view

The studios are approx. 24-26 m² in size and feature a combined living/bedroom (2 single beds, 90x200 cm) with bath/WC, hairdryer, vanity mirror, bathrobe, air conditioning, smart TV, telephone, safe (incl.), Wi-Fi (included), desk, seating area, kitchenette (stove, microwave, and small refrigerator) as well as a balcony with side sea view, which may be restricted depending on the location (S12). Can also be booked as a studio for single use (S11).

Superior Studio side sea view

Equipped like the studios, but slightly larger at approx. 34-40 m² (US2). Can be booked as a Superior Studio for single use (US1).
Also available as a Studio Superior Type O (SOU) with a limited allotment and at a special price.

Junior suite side sea view

Have the same amenities as the studios, but are slightly larger at approx. 38-44 m² and consist of a living room and a separate bedroom (with 2 single beds) separated by a sliding door (JS2). Can be booked as a junior suite for single use (JS1).
Also available as a Junior suite Type O with a limited allotment and at a special price (JSA).

If guests with HB meal plan wish to visit one of the à la carte restaurants, they will receive a credit of €17 per person per dinner. Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the hill of Pico dos Barcelos, you can overlook the bay of Funchal, and the tour continues to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the floor of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker sledges. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbard fish – is caught). We continue via Cabo Girão (at 580m the highest cliff in Europe), and then the path leads us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, we go uphill to the plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, we descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea swimming pools. Here, there will be a lunch break. The return journey is via the north coast and leads via Seixal to São Vicente. From there, it goes uphill over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts at the same time. Then return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). The route then goes downhill to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which has been declared a World Heritage Site. The trip continues to Santana, known for its thatched houses. A lunch break will be taken here. Afterwards, we go to the Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion takes us after an approx. 1.5-hour levada hike (difficulty level: easy) to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
