Location

The hotel, part of the PortoBay Group, is situated above the Lido, separated from the sea only by the promenade. The city center is approximately 2.5 km away. A shopping center with numerous shops is located very close to the hotel. The airport is approximately 19 km away.

The comfortable 4-star hotel is located in the Vila Porto Mare resort and features 146 studios and suites. It offers its guests a reception hall with reception, elevator, 4 restaurants (including a buffet restaurant), 3 bars, and internet access (free of charge). In the garden area, there are 2 swimming pools, a children's pool, a pool bar, and a sun terrace (sun loungers, bath towels, and umbrellas by the pool are included). All facilities of the Vila Porto Mare resort can be used.

Accommodation

Studio with partial sea view

The studios are approximately 24-26 sqm and feature a combined living/sleeping area (2 single beds, 90x200 cm) with bath/WC, hairdryer, cosmetic mirror, bathrobe, air conditioning, Smart TV, telephone, safe (incl.), Wi-Fi (included), desk, seating area, kitchenette (stove, microwave, and small refrigerator), and a balcony with a partial sea view, which may be limited depending on the location (S12). Can also be booked as a studio for single use (S11).

Superior Studio with partial sea view

Equipped like the studios, but slightly larger at approximately 34-40 sqm (US2). Can also be booked as a Superior Studio for single use (US1). Also available as Studio Superior Type O (SOU) with limited availability and at a special price.

Junior Suite with partial sea view

Feature the same amenities as the studios but are slightly larger at approximately 38-44 sqm and consist of a living area and a separate bedroom (with 2 single beds) separated by a sliding door (JS2). Can be booked as a Junior Suite for single use (JS1). Also available as Junior Suite Type O with limited availability and at a special price (JSA).

Buffet style. If guests wish to dine at one of the à la carte restaurants, they will receive a credit of €17 per person per dinner. Currently, 3 à la carte restaurants are open: "Alfama" (Mediterranean), "Il Basilico" (Italian), and the new "Horta" restaurant (healthy comfort food/Wednesday-Sunday).

Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and then proceed to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the Nossa Senhora do Monte church. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – Black Scabbardfish – is caught). Continue via Cabo Girão (Europe's highest sea cliff at 580m), and then the route follows the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, ascend to the plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, descend to Porto Moniz to the natural seawater pools. A lunch break will be taken here. The return journey will be along the north coast, passing through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, ascend via the Encumeada pass (1007m), offering views of both the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Depart into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the heart of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Santana, known for its traditional thatched houses. A lunch break will be taken here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion includes a 1.5-hour levada walk (difficulty: easy) to the Botanical Garden, famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
