Location

The Minos Mare Royal hotel is located directly on a "Blue Flag" awarded sandy beach in the Platanias holiday area and is an ideal place for peace and relaxation. The town center of Rethymnon is approx. 5 km away from the hotel. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafés, and taverns are in the immediate vicinity. The distance to Heraklion airport is approx. 78 km and to Chania airport 72 km.

The very well-maintained 5-star complex, popular with regular guests, is a Schauinsland-Reisen original and features a 24-hour reception, elevator, a main restaurant, an à-la-carte restaurant, a lobby bar, mini-market, souvenir shop, and a small library. Outside, there is a beautiful garden with many shade-giving palm trees, a swimming pool with hydromassage function, and a pool bar. Sun loungers and parasols are included for hotel guests at the pool and beach, as are bath towels.
Wi-Fi is included throughout the entire complex.

Superior Double Room

The modern rooms feature a bathroom with a whirlpool tub/WC, hairdryer, toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, and a cosmetic mirror. They are also equipped with individually adjustable air conditioning, safe, telephone, flatscreen satellite TV, radio/CD player, minibar (for a fee), coffee/tea station, pillow menu, and a balcony with garden view (DSU). A bottle of water and a sweet treat are provided for guests in the rooms upon arrival free of charge.
Also available for single use (DSE).

Deluxe Double Room Pool View

With otherwise the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms, these rooms offer a pool view, and guests receive a welcome package (sparkling wine and fruits) upon arrival, along with mineral water replenished daily. Additionally, lunch is included once per stay as a set menu (DBP/IDD).
Also available for single use (1DZ).

Executive Suite Sea View

With otherwise the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms, these spacious suites feature a combined living/sleeping area as well as a separate bedroom and have a balcony with a sea view (S2). Additionally, a minibar refill once per week is included.

Meals

Half Board (bookable until summer 2026)

A rich breakfast buffet (7:00–10:30 AM) in the main restaurant with a view of the green gardens and the pool provides the perfect foundation for a successful start to the day.
A selection of egg dishes and omelets can be ordered à la carte.
For dinner (7:00–9:30 PM), there is a choice of one of four main dishes (meat, fish, vegetarian, grilled). In addition, a buffet with appetizers and desserts is available.
Appropriate attire (long trousers, suitable footwear) is requested for dinner.

All Inclusive

Premium All Inclusive (from 2027)

Breakfast (7:30–10:00 AM), lunch (1:00–3:00 PM), and dinner (7:00–9:30 PM) in the "Veranda" main restaurant.
In the morning, a rich breakfast buffet with Greek specialties as well as freshly prepared egg dishes, omelets, waffles, pancakes, and coffee and tea specialties.
Alternatively, a late-riser breakfast is offered from 10:00–11:00 AM.
At lunch, a light buffet with salads, cold and warm appetizers, main courses, desserts, and ice cream.
In the evening, salads and appetizers are offered, as well as a choice of four main dishes (meat, fish, vegetarian, or grilled dish) served at the table. Once a week, a Greek or Italian theme buffet.
At the "Giardino" pool/snack bar, various snacks and refreshments are offered from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM, including freshly squeezed juices, toasts, filled croissants, omelets, fruit tarts, and cold and warm finger foods. Coffee, cake, and pastries (4:00–5:00 PM) as well as a Greek aperitif with Ouzo or Raki and local side dishes (5:00–6:30 PM) complete the offer. Midnight snack for late arrivals from 10:00 PM–12:00 AM with sandwiches, salads, and burgers.
Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included at the bars depending on opening hours. Soft drinks, water, juices, coffee and tea specialties, beer, local wines, selected brand spirits, cocktails, sparkling wine, and ice cream are offered. Selected drinks are also included at the "Afros" beach bar during opening hours.
Once a week, a 5-course dinner at the "Afros Beach Restaurant" à la carte restaurant is included (reservation required, subject to availability). In addition, a gala evening with a 5-course menu and live music takes place once a week.
Furthermore, a welcome package with water, wine, and small snacks is included, as well as the daily refilling of the minibar with water, soft drinks, juice, local beer and wine, and Raki.

Information regarding Climate Resilience Fee

For stays starting from January 1, 2018, the Greek government levies a climate resilience fee, which must be paid by the guest on site, comparable to a tourist tax.
The amount depends on the type/category of the accommodation and has been tiered from €0.50 to €15 per day and room since January 1, 2025.
For stays in the high season (April 1 to October 31):
