The Minos Mare Royal hotel is located directly on a "Blue Flag" awarded sandy beach in the Platanias holiday area and is an ideal place for peace and relaxation. The centre of Rethymnon is approx. 5 km away from the hotel. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and tavernas are located in the immediate vicinity. The distance to Heraklion airport is approx. 78 km and to Chania airport 72 km.

The well-maintained 5-star complex with 61 rooms is popular with regular guests and is a schauinsland-reisen original. It features a 24-hour reception, lift, a main restaurant, an à la carte restaurant, a lobby bar, mini-market, souvenir shop and a small library. In the outdoor area, there is a beautiful garden with many shade-providing palm trees, a swimming pool with hydro-massage function, and a pool bar. Sun loungers and parasols are included for hotel guests at the pool and beach, as are beach towels.
Wi-Fi is included throughout the complex.

Superior Double Room

The modern rooms feature a bathroom with whirlpool bathtub/WC, hairdryer, toiletries, bathrobes, slippers and make-up mirror. They are also equipped with individually adjustable air conditioning, safe, telephone, flatscreen satellite TV, radio/CD player, minibar (for a fee), coffee/tea station, pillow menu and balcony with garden view (DSU). A bottle of water and something sweet are provided free of charge for guests upon arrival in the rooms.

Deluxe Double Room Pool View

With otherwise the same equipment as the Superior Double Rooms, these rooms have pool view and guests receive a welcome package (sparkling wine and fruit) upon arrival and daily replenished mineral water. Additionally, lunch is included once per stay as a set menu (DBP/IDD).
Also bookable for single use (1DZ).

Executive Suite Sea View

With otherwise the same equipment as the Superior Double Rooms, these spacious suites feature a combined living/sleeping room and a separate bedroom, and have a balcony with sea view (S2). Additionally, a minibar refill once a week is included.

Meals

Half Board (bookable until Summer 2026)

A rich breakfast buffet (7-10:30 am) in the main restaurant with views of the green gardens and the pool offers the perfect start to the day.
A selection of egg dishes and omelettes can be ordered à la carte.
For dinner (7-9:30 pm), there is the option to choose from one of four main courses (meat, fish, vegetarian, grilled). Additionally, a buffet with appetizers and desserts is available.
Appropriate attire (long trousers, appropriate shoes) is requested for dinner.

All Inclusive

Premium All Inclusive (from 2027)

Breakfast (7:30–10 am), lunch (1–3 pm) and dinner (7–9:30 pm) in the main restaurant "Veranda".
Morning rich breakfast buffet with Greek specialties as well as freshly prepared egg dishes, omelettes, waffles, pancakes, and coffee and tea specialties.
Alternatively, a late riser breakfast is offered from 10–11 am.
At lunch, a light buffet with salads, cold and warm appetizers, main courses, desserts and ice cream.
At dinner, salads and appetizers as well as a selection from four main courses (meat, fish, vegetarian or grilled dish) are offered with table service. Greek or Italian theme buffet once a week.
Various snacks and refreshments are offered at the pool/snack bar "Giardino" from 11 am–3 pm, including freshly squeezed juices, toasts, filled croissants, omelettes, fruit tarts as well as cold and warm finger foods. Coffee, cake and pastries (4–5 pm) as well as a Greek aperitif with Ouzo or Raki and local side dishes (5–6:30 pm) round off the offer. Midnight snack for late arrivals from 10 pm–12 am with sandwiches, salads and burgers.
Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included depending on opening hours at the respective open bars. Offered are soft drinks, water, juices, coffee and tea specialties, beer, local wines, selected branded spirits, cocktails, sparkling wine and ice cream. Selected drinks are also included during opening hours at the beach bar "Afros".
Once a week a 5-course dinner is included in the à la carte restaurant "Afros Beach Restaurant" (reservation required, subject to availability). Additionally, a gala evening with a 5-course menu and live music takes place once a week.
Furthermore, a welcome package with water, wine and small snacks is included as well as the daily refill of the minibar with water, soft drinks, juice, local beer and wine and Raki.

Destination information Climate Resilience Fee

For stays from 1.1.2018, the Greek government charges a climate resilience fee, which must be paid by the guest on site, comparable to a tourist tax.
The amount depends on the type/category of the accommodation and has been tiered from 0.50 Euro to 15 Euro per day and room as of 1.1.2025.
