Hotelhinweis

In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be integrated openly into the general living area of the hotel room without spatial separation.
*************************************
As of now, hotels in Mexico will gradually introduce an "Eco-Tax".
As a result, every hotel guest in Mexico is required to pay a state-mandated fee locally in cash at the hotel, similar to a visitor's tax.
**************************************

Zusatzhinweis

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax was implemented and currently amounts to a one-time fee of 224 Mexican pesos or approx. 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can also be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is recommended to carry the exact amount in Mexican pesos or US dollars.

Smoking ban

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, there may be an increased occurrence of seaweed and algae due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased incidence of sargassum (brown algae) in the Caribbean. This can impact the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are, of course, striving to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with municipal administrations. This requires the use of appropriate machinery, which may result in minor noise levels.
