The Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya hotel is located directly on the beautiful white sandy beach of the Riviera Maya, amidst tropical vegetation. Playa del Carmen is approx. 20 minutes away, and Cancun International Airport is approx. 1 hour's drive from the hotel.

The modern complex for adults only, with 434 elegant suites, features a lobby with a reception, a small shopping arcade, and an open-air theatre. In the large, well-maintained outdoor area, there are 3 swimming pools (one of them an infinity pool with a breathtaking sea view) with a sun terrace and swim-up bar. For culinary delights, there is an international buffet restaurant, 6 à la carte restaurants (Mexican, Asian, Grill, Seafood, Italian, French, with rotating opening hours), 7 bars, and the Coco Café.

Therefore, every user of a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel in cash, corresponding to a visitor's tax.

A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations may be punishable by fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal Information

When staying between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased presence of brown algae in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are of course making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate some noise.
