Sustainability

With our "Travel with a Future" label, we identify hotels that demonstrably meet recognized sustainability standards. These include standards recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and the Tourism Sustainability Certifications Alliance (TSCA). Currently, around 20% of the hotels in our program meet these criteria and have been verified through independent certification procedures. This product line offers our guests additional guidance when choosing their accommodation.

Zusatzhinweis

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been in effect, currently amounting to a one-time fee of 224 Mexican pesos or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can also be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is recommended to have the exact amount in Mexican pesos or US dollars.

Smoking ban

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations may be punishable by fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, there may be an increased occurrence of seaweed and algae due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, brown algae often appear in the Caribbean during this time, which can impact the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities strive to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local municipal administrations. This requires the use of heavy machinery, which may cause slight noise.
