Location

The Quinta da Penha de França Mar hotel is located by the sea with direct access. The facilities of the sister hotel Quinta da Penha de França (accessible via a footbridge and elevator) can also be used. The center of Funchal is about a 10-minute walk away. Airport approx. 20 km away.

The Quinta da Penha de França Mar hotel has 33 rooms. Further facilities include a reception (for check-in and check-out), an elevator, a bar, and the à la carte restaurant Rivus (open Wednesday to Saturday). Double room Sea View

The Double rooms Sea View have the same amenities as the Double rooms Poolside, but feature a balcony with a sea view (DM). Also bookable for single occupancy (DEM).

Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and then continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nun's Valley). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the Nossa Senhora do Monte church. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional toboggans. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada - black scabbardfish - is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (highest sea cliff in Europe at 580m), and then the route leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, the path goes up to the plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, descend to Porto Moniz to the natural seawater pools. Lunch break will be taken here. The return journey will be along the north coast, passing through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, ascend over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see both the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Santana, known for its thatched houses. Lunch break will be taken here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us after an approx. 1.5-hour levada walk (difficulty: easy) to the Botanical Garden, famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
