The modern comfort hotel is situated above the sea, directly on the promenade (with direct access via a gate). The "Forum" shopping center with numerous shops as well as various bars and restaurants can be reached quickly on foot. It is approximately 3 km to the center of Funchal (bus connection from the hotel). The "Ponta Gorda" seawater swimming pool is located below the hotel (admission for a fee).

schauinsland-reisen-Original: The popular holiday hotel is located in the tourist center of Funchal and is situated above the Lido. The hotel has a total of 215 residential units spread over 11 floors. Further facilities include 3 lifts, a lobby with a reception, and a bar with access to the panoramic terrace on the 6th floor with a fantastic view over the Atlantic. The "Atlantic" buffet restaurant offers a new outdoor area where breakfast or dinner can be enjoyed outside. The à-la-carte restaurant "Sal" (on the 3rd floor of the hotel), which mainly serves Italian specialties, also leaves nothing to be desired. On the pretty sun terrace with a panoramic view, you will find the freshwater swimming pool (heatable) with a separate children's pool and the renovated "Blue" pool bar, where delicious snacks and fresh salads are offered at lunchtime. Sun loungers and parasols are included in the pool area. Bath towels are free of charge upon arrival (exchange for a fee).

The approx. 25 m² modernly designed Double Rooms Sea View are located in a preferred position and face directly towards the sea. Further facilities include a bathroom with shower and WC, hairdryer, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, kettle, telephone, safe (for a fee), minibar (for a fee), Wi-Fi (included), desk, and a furnished balcony (DM). Also bookable as Double Room Sea View for single use (DEM).

The Double Rooms Type I Sea View have the same equipment as the Double Room Sea View, but with a flexible price and limited availability (DMI).

Double Room

The Double Rooms have the same equipment as the Double Rooms Sea View, but are located on the land side (D). Also bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price (YTR - all travelers must be between 18 and 29 years old). Also bookable as Type O (DZO) with limited availability.

Double Room Type I

The Double Rooms Type I have the same equipment as the Double Room, but with a flexible price and limited availability (DI).

Double Room Premium Sea View

The Premium Double Rooms Sea View have the same size and equipment as the Double Rooms, but are located on the 8th to 11th floors of the hotel and thus offer a spectacular sea view. All premium guests receive the following special services: A bottle of water, a fruit basket, and honey cake upon arrival in the room, bathrobes and slippers on loan, free access to the Turkish bath and sauna (by appointment at the reception), and early check-in/late check-out subject to availability. The safe in the room is free of charge. In addition, guests in the premium rooms benefit from exclusive access to the sun terrace on the 10th floor. 1x free dinner in the à-la-carte restaurant (drinks not included) when booking the Premium Double Room Sea View with half-board for a minimum stay of 7 nights (2PM).

The Family Rooms Sea View consist of 2 normal Double Rooms Sea View with a connecting door and, at approx. 50 m², offer enough space for up to 4 people (FM2).

Star tour excursion program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the hill Pico dos Barcelos, you can overlook the bay of Funchal and continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the floor of an extinct volcano. At the bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nun's Valley). Continue to Monte, where you visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional toboggan sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village, where the famous black scabbard fish is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (at 580m the highest cliff cape in Europe), and then the path leads us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta do Sol, it goes upwards to the high plateau of Paúl da Serra (1400m). Finally, it goes downhill to Porto Moniz to the natural seawater pools. The lunch break is taken here. The return journey is taken via the north coast and leads via Seixal to São Vicente. From there it goes upwards over the Encumeada Pass (1007m), where one can see the north and south coasts at the same time. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). It then goes downhill to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which has been declared a World Heritage Site. The journey continues to Santana, known for its thatched houses. The lunch break is taken here. After that, we go to Pico do Facho. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and last excursion leads us after an approx. 1.5-hour levada hike (difficulty: easy) into the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its around 3,000 different plant species (admission fee and guided tour included).

Directions from Funchal Airport (FNC):
Coming from the airport, take the Via Rapida (expressway) towards Funchal until the exit "Funchal Centro/Hospital". Turn left here, drive past the hospital (on the right) down to Avenida do Infante (stay in the right lane). Turn right there and keep left on Estrada Monumental. Drive straight ahead, passing the Monumental Lido hotels and the Hotel Alto Lido.
