Location

The modern comfort hotel is located above the sea, directly on the promenade (with direct access through a gate). The shopping center "Forum" with numerous shops as well as various bars and restaurants are quickly reachable on foot. The center of Funchal is about 3 km away (local bus connection from the hotel). The seawater swimming pool "Ponta Gorda" is located below the hotel (entrance fee required).

schauinsland-reisen-Original: The popular holiday hotel is located in the tourist center of Funchal, above the Lido. The hotel has a total of 215 accommodation units, spread over 11 floors. Further facilities include 3 lifts, a reception hall with a reception desk, and a bar with access to the panoramic terrace on the 6th floor with a fantastic view over the Atlantic. The buffet restaurant "Atlantic" and the à la carte restaurant "Sal" (on the 3rd floor of the hotel), which primarily serves Italian specialties, leave nothing to be desired. On the pretty sun terrace with panoramic views, there is the heated freshwater swimming pool with a separate children's pool and pool bar. Sun loungers and umbrellas are included in the pool area. Bath towels are free of charge upon arrival (change for a fee).

Double room sea view

The modernly designed double rooms with sea view, approximately 25 m² in size, are in a preferred location and directly face the sea. Further amenities include a bathroom with shower and toilet, hairdryer, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, kettle, telephone, rental safe (for a fee), minibar (for a fee), Wi-Fi (included), desk, and a furnished balcony (DM). Also bookable as a double room sea view for single occupancy (DEM).

Double room Type I Sea View

The Double rooms Type I Sea View have the same amenities as the Double room Sea View, but with a flexible price and limited availability (DMI).

Double room

The double rooms have the same amenities as the double rooms with sea view, but facing the land side (D). Also bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special rate (YTR - all travelers must be between 18 and 29 years old).

Double room Type I

The Double rooms Type I have the same amenities as the Double room, but with a flexible price and limited availability (DI).

Double room Premium Sea View

The Premium double rooms with sea view have the same size and amenities as the double rooms, but are located on the 8th to 11th floors of the hotel, thus offering a spectacular sea view. All premium guests receive the following special services: a bottle of water, fruit basket, and gingerbread upon arrival in the room, bathrobes and slippers on loan, free access to the Turkish bath and sauna, with advance reservation at the reception, and early check-in/late check-out subject to availability. The safe in the room is free of charge. In addition, guests in premium rooms benefit from exclusive access to the sun terrace on the 10th floor. One free dinner in the à la carte restaurant (drinks not included) when booking premium double rooms with sea view with half-board meal plan for a minimum stay of 7 nights (2PM).

Family room sea view

The family rooms with sea view consist of 2 standard double rooms with sea view connected by a door and offer with approx. 50 m² enough space for up to 4 people (FM2).

Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover Madeira's most beautiful panoramas on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos vantage point, you overlook Funchal Bay and continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional basket sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada - black scabbardfish - is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (Europe's highest cliff at 580m), and then the route leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, you ascend to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea pools. Lunch break is taken here. The return journey starts along the north coast via Seixal to São Vicente. From there, ascend over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see both the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the heart of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Santana, known for its thatched houses. Lunch break is taken here. Afterwards, proceed to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us to the Botanical Garden after an approx. 1.5-hour levada walk (difficulty: easy), famous for its around 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
