Location

The family-run Hotel Paralos Irini Mare is in harmony with nature, beautifully and quietly situated between gently sloping hills, surrounded by magnificent landscape. Due to its location above a small bathing bay, the hotel offers a wonderful view of the sea. The Blue Flag awarded beach is just approx. 100 m away. After just a ten-minute walk, you reach the picturesque village of Agia Galini with its many taverns, cafés, and narrow alleys that invite you to stroll. From summer 2027, a reserved beach area for hotel guests with sun loungers and parasols (for a fee) will be available approx. 500 m away. The "Theros" beach bar is also located there, offering drinks and light snacks. The distance to Heraklion airport is approx. 77 km. A bus stop is approx. 800 m away.

This very warmly and considerately managed complex invites you to enjoy a relaxed life, meaningful experiences, and barefoot luxury. The 154 rooms are spread across a main building and 15 annexes, nestled in a beautifully landscaped, large garden. It offers its guests a lobby with German and English-speaking 24-hour reception, the "Galini Lobby Bar," which features a balcony with magnificent views over the bay and the sea as well as the village of Agia Galini, a pool bar situated in the shade of palm trees and ideal for a sundowner, luggage room, small library, and a free, camera-monitored parking lot. Wi-Fi is included throughout the complex.
The modern and freshly renovated non-smoking buffet restaurant with three show-cooking stations invites you to discover authentic farm-to-table gastronomy on its outdoor terrace with olive trees, palm trees, and fragrant shrubs. In 2024, the à-la-carte restaurant "Tomatini" opened its doors, where meals are prepared with home-grown vegetables and served based on Greek and Cretan cuisine.
The well-kept garden offers more than 50 different species of herbs, flowers, and trees, conveying an impression of Crete's flora. The tea corner at the breakfast buffet is stocked with fresh herbs from the Cretan botanical garden, featuring local mountain tea, thyme, oregano, and lavender. The fruits and vegetables come from the Messara region, which includes Agia Galini and is known for its cultivation. Furthermore, the hotel also has its own orchard and olive groves with seasonal crops, very close to the UNESCO World Heritage site "Phaistos."
Around the three large semi-saltwater swimming pools (one of them with a whirlpool, one as a quiet pool with an infinity view of Agia Galini), palm trees, olive trees, and carob trees are distributed. One pool is enriched with magnesium, which is particularly good for hair, skin, and health. Additionally, there is a children's pool in the garden area, as well as a pool bar with a sun terrace and lawn area. The pools are cleaned on an ecological basis using a salt electrolysis system. Sun loungers, gazebos, and pool towels are available here free of charge. Sun loungers at the beach are available for a fee.
Out of respect for the natural beauty of the landscape, the Paralos Irini Mare largely avoids parasols. Instead, you can enjoy the natural shade of the palm trees and acacias that have been growing here since the hotel's opening.
Schauinsland-Reisen insider tip: Next to the large, approx. 200-year-old olive tree, an outdoor fitness area integrated into nature has been created.

These fresh-designed rooms feature centrally controlled air conditioning, ceiling fan, bathroom with shower/WC, toiletries, hair dryer, full-length and cosmetic mirror, coffee machine (four capsules included upon arrival), coffee/tea station, kettle, Wi-Fi (included), soundproof windows and doors, telephone, 42-inch LED TV, electronic safe, mini-fridge, a bottle of water in the room upon arrival, pillow menu, as well as a balcony (J2M/DJO, max. occupancy 3, with two single beds and one sofa bed).

Junior Suite Chill

The "Chill" Junior Suites are located on the ground floor and are decorated in warm, natural tones and materials. Each room has its own private garden with sun loungers and a cozy hammock.
These spacious rooms feature two single beds, a sofa, a hanging chair in the room, a functional bathroom with shower/WC, hair dryer and toiletries, a full-length and cosmetic mirror, telephone, 42-inch satellite TV, an in-room electronic safe, individually adjustable air conditioning, a mini-fridge, coffee and tea station, pillow menu, and a bottle of water in the room upon arrival (NC2/NCI, one room).

Junior Suite Star Sleep Rooftop Sea View

The new Star Sleep Rooftop Junior Suites with sea view offer a magnificent retreat with a private rooftop terrace, accessible via a private staircase. Here, a cozy daybed, an outdoor shower, and a seating area invite you to relax. While otherwise having the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms, these rooms are more spacious and feature a combined living/sleeping area with twin beds and a sofa bed or sleeping chair. In addition, these rooms have roof ventilation, centrally controlled air conditioning/heating, as well as a Nespresso coffee machine (4 capsules included upon arrival) and offer a sea view (JMA/JMI).

South Junior Suite Sea View Plunge Pool

These equally new rooms offer, with the same amenities as the Junior Suite, a private terrace with seating, sun loungers, and a private plunge pool (B2J/JMP/W2, bookable for guests aged 8 and over).
The plunge pool is not supervised by a lifeguard. We ask for considerate behavior and special attention when using this area.

Blue Junior Suite Private Pool Sea View

The new Blue Junior Suites feature, with the same amenities as the Junior Suite, a shower with access to the terrace as well as a private pool, a sun deck with sun loungers and a seating area (L2J/Q2A, bookable from 8 years of age).
The private pool is not supervised by a lifeguard. We ask for considerate behavior and special attention when using this area.

The suite with private pool has the same amenities as the Junior Suite Private Pool and consists of a separate bedroom, living room, private pool, and terrace with a view of the mountains (SP2).
Also optionally bookable with sea view (IP2) on request.
Both room types only bookable for guests aged 8 and over.

Suite 2 Levels Private Pool (bookable on request)

Built in maisonette style, the suite offers plenty of space on 2 levels. With the same amenities as the Junior Suite Private Pool, it consists of two separate bedrooms connected by an internal staircase and offers space for up to 6 people. The terrace offers a private pool and a view of the sea.
Only bookable for guests aged 8 and over.
The private pool is not supervised by a lifeguard. We ask for considerate behavior and special attention when using this area.

Family Room Connecting Door

The rooms with connecting door are two Superior Double Rooms, each room features its own entrance and a bathroom (FAV). Optionally bookable with sea view for an additional charge (MFV).

Meals

Half Board

At the Paralos Irini Mare, tradition and high-quality cuisine are the focus. Since 2021, the kitchen has been supported by the renowned Greek chef Dimitris Chalkiadakis. Exclusively local Cretan and Greek products are used to bring healthy, authentic, and tasteful Cretan cuisine directly from the gardens to the table. Cooking is done exclusively with local olive oil from the hotel's own olive groves near the archaeological Palace of Phaistos. This creates a culinary experience that offers an authentic insight into typical Cretan cuisine.
The extensive breakfast buffet (7:30-10:30 a.m.) is freshly prepared and spoils the palate with freshly squeezed juices from seasonal fruits (freshly harvested, subject to availability, e.g., oranges, figs, pomegranates, and medlars from the hotel's groves) as well as smoothies, honeycombs, waffles, eggs in various styles, and Greek specialties. Upon request and prior reservation, a continental early-bird breakfast can be taken from 0:00-7:15 a.m.
Dinner takes place from 7:00-9:15 p.m. in buffet form with three show-cooking stations, where varied meals are conjured up from fresh, regional ingredients.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free dishes are also offered (upon request on site).
Additionally, there is a set-menu lunch (12:00-3:30 p.m.) at the pool with healthy snacks and Greek dishes with a modern touch (for an additional charge).
Guests also have the à-la-carte restaurant "Tomatini," which offers traditional Greek and Cretan dishes. Guests can choose from various menus. In "Tomatini," local products and vegetables from the hotel's own garden are used without exception. For stays of 7 nights or more, dinner in the à-la-carte restaurant is included once per week (7:00-10:00 p.m., reservation required upon arrival, latest reservation 8:00 p.m.).
Drinks are not included with dinner.
Smart casual dress code is requested for dinner.

All Inclusive Plus

The All-Inclusive program at the Paralos Irini Mare offers more than just comfort and takes you on an authentic journey into Cretan and Greek gastronomy.
From 7:30-10:30 a.m., the day begins with a rich breakfast buffet with live cooking. A continental breakfast is available as early as 7:00 a.m. (earlier breakfast is possible by notification the day before). At lunchtime from 12:30-3:30 p.m., light à la carte dishes as well as sandwiches and snacks to take away are offered at the pool bar. Dinner in the main restaurant is also available in buffet form from 6:45-9:15 p.m., with three show-cooking stations where varied dishes are prepared from fresh, regional ingredients.
Alternatively, dinner can be taken once per 7 days of stay in the à-la-carte restaurant "Tomatini" (7:00-10:00 p.m., reservation required, latest reservation 8:00 p.m.).
For lunch and dinner, still and sparkling water, an exquisite wine list, Greek draft beers, non-alcoholic drinks, natural juices, and a selection of non-alcoholic options are included.
The pool bar offers a wide selection of coffee variations from 10:00 a.m. to midnight, as well as cocoa, homemade iced tea, a colorful tea selection (including Cretan mountain tea and fresh mint tea), juices and juice spritzers, other refreshing drinks and water, Greek draft beer, non-alcoholic beer, an excellent selection of about 20 cocktails, mocktails, and children's cocktails, spirits such as Metaxa, Ouzo, Tequila, Jim Beam, Baileys, Amaretto, Otto's Greek Vermouth, Raki, at least two types of whiskey, gin, rum, vodka, and martini, as well as wines (red, white, rosé, sparkling wine). Additionally, you can end the day from 4:00 p.m. to midnight in the lobby bar with the aforementioned cocktails, spirits, wines, and refreshing non-alcoholic cocktails.
Smart casual dress code is requested for dinner.

Destination information: Climate resilience fee

For stays starting from 1.1.2018, the Greek government charges a climate resilience fee, which must be paid by the guest on site, comparable to a tourist tax.
The amount is based on the type/category of accommodation and has been tiered from 0.50 Euro to 15 Euros per room per day since 1.1.2025.
