The family-run Paralos Irini Mare hotel enjoys a beautiful, quiet location nestled between rolling hills and surrounded by magnificent countryside. It is situated above a small bay with a wonderful sea view and is approximately 100 m from the Blue Flag awarded beach. A ten-minute walk leads to the picturesque village of Agia Galini, with its many taverns, cafés, and narrow streets inviting you to stroll around. The distance to Heraklion Airport is approx. 77 km. A bus stop can be reached after approx. 800 m.

This warmly and carefully managed complex with a total of 154 rooms consists of a main building and 15 annexes, which are spread throughout a beautifully landscaped, large garden. It offers guests a lobby with a German and English-speaking 24-hour reception, the "Galini Lobby Bar" with a balcony offering magnificent views over the bay, the sea, and the village of Agia Galini, a pool bar shaded by palm trees—ideal for a sundowner—a luggage room, a small library, and a free, camera-monitored parking area. Wi-Fi is included throughout the entire complex.
The modern and freshly renovated non-smoking buffet restaurant with 3 show-cooking stations features an outdoor terrace with olive trees, palms, and fragrant shrubs. In 2024, the à-la-carte restaurant "Tomatini" opened its doors, serving dishes prepared with homegrown vegetables as a set menu based on Greek and Cretan cuisine.
The well-kept garden offers more than 50 different species of herbs, flowers, and trees, conveying an impression of Crete's flora. The tea corner at the breakfast buffet is stocked with fresh herbs from the Cretan botanical garden, including local mountain tea, thyme, oregano, and lavender. Fruits and vegetables come from the Messara region, which includes Agia Galini and is famous for its agriculture. Furthermore, the hotel also has its own orchard and olive groves with seasonal crops, very close to the UNESCO World Heritage site "Phaistos".
Palm, olive, and carob trees are scattered around the three large semi-saltwater swimming pools (one with a whirlpool, one as a quiet pool with an infinity view over Agia Galini). One pool is enriched with magnesium, which is particularly beneficial for hair, skin, and health. In addition, the garden area contains a children's pool and a pool bar with a sun terrace and lawn. The pools are cleaned on an ecological basis using a salt electrolysis system. Sun loungers, gazebos, and pool towels are available free of charge. Sun loungers on the beach are available for a fee through local providers.
Out of respect for the natural beauty of the landscape, the Paralos Irini Mare generally avoids parasols. Instead, guests can enjoy the natural shade provided by the palms and acacia trees that have been growing here since the hotel opened.
Schauinsland-Reisen insider tip: An outdoor fitness area integrated into nature has been set up next to the large approx. 200-year-old olive tree.

Experience the Superior Double Rooms in a modern retro design.
The decor is based on natural tones and materials. These spacious rooms feature a bathroom with shower/WC, hairdryer and toiletries, full-length and cosmetic mirror, pillow menu, electronic safe, mini-fridge, coffee and tea station, kettle, 1 bottle of water in the room upon arrival, individually adjustable air conditioning, telephone, 42" LED TV, as well as a balcony or terrace with garden/mountain view (DSU: max. occupancy 3, with 2 single beds and a sofa bed if needed). These freshly designed rooms feature centrally controlled, eco-friendly air conditioning, ceiling fan, bathroom with shower/WC, toiletries, hairdryer, full-length and cosmetic mirror, coffee machine (four capsules included upon arrival), coffee/tea station, kettle, Wi-Fi (included), soundproof windows and doors, telephone, 42-inch LED TV, electric safe, mini-fridge, a bottle of water in the room upon arrival, pillow menu, and a balcony (J2M/DJO, max. occupancy 3, with 2 single beds and a sofa bed).

Family Room

With the same amenities as the double rooms, the family rooms feature a separate bedroom partitioned by a door with 2 single beds or two sofa beds (DF2). Optionally bookable with a sea view for an additional charge (F2M).

Junior Suite Sharing Pool

The freshly designed rooms feature individually adjustable air conditioning, bathroom with shower/WC, toiletries, hairdryer, full-length and cosmetic mirror, coffee machine (four capsules included upon arrival), coffee/tea station, kettle, telephone, 42-inch LED TV, electric safe, mini-fridge, a bottle of water in the room upon arrival, pillow menu, and a terrace with gazebos or sun loungers and direct access to the sharing pool (J2/JSI). The "Chill" Junior Suites are located on the ground floor and are decorated with warm natural tones and materials. Each room has its own private garden with loungers and a cozy hammock.
These spacious rooms feature two single beds, a sofa, an indoor hanging chair, a functional bathroom with shower/WC, hairdryer and toiletries, a full-length and cosmetic mirror, telephone, 42-inch satellite TV, an electronic in-room safe, individually adjustable air conditioning, a mini-fridge, coffee and tea station, pillow menu, 1 bottle of water in the room upon arrival (NC2/NCI, 1 room).

Junior Suite Star Sleep Rooftop Sea View

The new Star Sleep Rooftop Junior Suites with sea view offer a magnificent retreat with a private roof terrace, accessible via a private staircase. Here, a cozy daybed, an outdoor shower, and a seating area invite you to relax. With the same amenities as the Superior Double Rooms, these rooms are more spacious and feature a combined living/sleeping area with twin beds and a sofa bed or sleeping armchair. Additionally, these rooms feature roof ventilation, centrally controlled air conditioning/heating, and a Nespresso coffee machine (4 capsules included upon arrival), offering a sea view (JMA/JMI).

Suite Private Pool (bookable on request)

The Suite with private pool offers the same amenities as the Junior Suite Private Pool and consists of a separate bedroom, living room, private pool, and terrace with mountain views (SP2).
Optionally bookable with a sea view (IP2), also on request.
Both room types are only bookable for guests aged 8 and over.

Meals

Half Board

At Paralos Irini Mare, tradition and high-quality culinary arts are at the heart of the experience. Since 2021, the kitchen has been supported by renowned Greek chef Dimitris Chalkiadakis. Only local Cretan and Greek products are used to bring healthy, authentic, and tasty Cretan cuisine straight from the gardens to your table. We cook exclusively with local olive oil from the hotel's own olive groves near the archaeological palace of Phaistos. This creates a culinary experience that provides an authentic insight into typical Cretan cuisine.
The extensive breakfast buffet (7:30-10:30 a.m.) is freshly prepared before your eyes and pampers you with freshly squeezed juices from seasonal fruits (freshly harvested, subject to availability, e.g., oranges, figs, pomegranates, and medlars from the hotel's groves) as well as smoothies, honeycombs, waffles, eggs in various styles, and Greek specialties. Upon request and prior booking, a continental early-riser breakfast can be taken from 0:00 to 7:15 a.m.
Dinner takes place from 7:00-9:15 p.m. in buffet style with 3 show-cooking stations, where varied meals are conjured up from fresh, regional ingredients.
Vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free dishes are also offered (on request on-site).
Additionally, there is an à la carte lunch (12:00-3:30 p.m.) by the pool with healthy snacks and Greek dishes with a modern touch (for an additional charge).
Guests also have access to the à-la-carte restaurant "Tomatini," which offers traditional Greek and Cretan dishes. Guests can choose from various menus here. In the "Tomatini," only local products and vegetables from the hotel's own garden are used. Dinner in the à-la-carte restaurant is included once per week (7:00-10:00 p.m., reservation required upon arrival, latest reservation 8:00 p.m.).
Drinks are not included during dinner.

All Inclusive

All Inclusive Plus

The All-Inclusive program at Paralos Irini Mare offers more than just comfort, taking you on an authentic journey into Cretan and Greek gastronomy.
From 7:30 to 10:30, the day begins with a rich breakfast buffet with live cooking. A continental breakfast is available starting at 7:00 a.m. (an earlier breakfast is possible by registering the day before). During lunchtime from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., light à la carte dishes or buffet options are served at the pool bar. Dinner in the main restaurant is also available in buffet style from 6:45 to 9:15 p.m., with three show-cooking stations where varied dishes are prepared using fresh, regional ingredients.
Optionally, dinner can be taken once every 7 days of stay at the à-la-carte restaurant "Tomatini" (7:00-10:00 p.m., reservation required, latest reservation 8:00 p.m.).
Still and sparkling water, a refined wine list, Greek draft beers, non-alcoholic drinks, natural juices, and a selection of non-alcoholic options are included with lunch and dinner.
The pool bar offers a wide selection from 10:00 a.m. to midnight, including coffee variations, cocoa, homemade iced tea, a colorful tea selection including Cretan mountain tea and fresh mint tea, juices and juice spritzers, other refreshments and water, Greek draft beer, non-alcoholic beer, an excellent selection of about 20 cocktails, mocktails, and children's cocktails, spirits such as Metaxa, Ouzo, Tequila, Jim Beam, Baileys, Amaretto, Otto's Greek Vermouth, Raki, at least 2 types of whiskey, gin, rum, vodka, and Martini each, as well as wines (red, white, rosé, sparkling wine). Furthermore, you can end the day from 4:00 p.m. to midnight in the lobby bar with the aforementioned cocktails, spirits, wines, and refreshing non-alcoholic cocktails.

Climate Resilience Fee

For stays starting from Jan 1, 2018, the Greek government imposes a climate resilience fee, which must be paid by the guest on-site, comparable to a tourist tax.
