Hotels in Mexico are gradually introducing an "Eco-Tax."
This requires every guest occupying a hotel room in Mexico to pay a state-imposed fee locally at the hotel, similar to a tourist tax.

A tourism tax was implemented on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time fee of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the length of stay in the country.

Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations may be punishable by fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

Between April and December, increased seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased presence of brown algae in the Caribbean during this period, affecting the beach and sea. Hotel management and local authorities are committed to cleaning affected beach sections in cooperation with municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate some noise.
