**************************************
Hotels in Mexico will gradually be introducing an "Eco-Tax."
This means that every user of a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the length of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. In this case, it is advisable to have the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars with you.
In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be integrated openly into the general living area of the hotel room without spatial separation.

Smoking Ban

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal Information

During stays between April and December, an increased presence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, brown algae are often found in abundance in the Caribbean during this period, affecting the beach and sea. The hotel management and local authorities are, of course, making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate some noise.
