**************************************
Hotels in Mexico are gradually introducing an "Eco-Tax".
This means that every user of a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a state tax locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned length of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is recommended to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars. In Mexico, washbasins or bathtubs/whirlpools may be openly integrated into the general living area of the hotel room without spatial separation.

At the Iberostar Grand Paraiso, guests receive refilled bottles directly, as there are no public drinking fountains.
It features the Winnow system to reduce food waste and 3R equipment for waste management in the hotels.
We have two coral nurseries in front of the complex where we are working with our scientific team to restore the coral reefs.
Together with the community where the Paraíso complex is located, we monitor the hotel beaches for turtle nests, which are then relocated to camps set up for this activity.
We maintain mangrove areas in our Paraíso complex, which help protect our coasts and hotels from storms and hurricanes.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transportation, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, an increased occurrence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, brown algae are often found more frequently in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are naturally striving to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local authorities. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which can produce a slight noise level.
