Hotelhinweis

Hotels in Mexico will be introducing an "Eco-Tax" from now on. This obliges every user of a hotel room in Mexico to pay a local tax to the state at the hotel in cash.
**************************************
A tourism tax came into force on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican pesos or approx. 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican pesos or US dollars with you.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, an increased presence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased occurrence of brown algae in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are of course making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may cause some noise.
