Location

The hotel, part of the popular RIU chain, is located on the beautiful Arena Gorda sandy beach. Punta Cana International Airport is approx. 25 km away, and the center of Higüey is approx. 40 km away.

The sprawling luxury complex, completely renovated in summer 2024, offers 994 rooms spread across a main building and several annex buildings with 2-3 floors. Facilities include a buffet restaurant with a terrace, 6 à la carte restaurants (including Fusion, Japanese, Steakhouse, new: American Country), a food court with diverse stations, an ice cream parlor, and 7 bars, including 2 swim-up bars (ages 18+) and a 24-hour sports bar. The tropical garden area now features 10 pools, including a children's pool with slides. Additionally, there is a spa, theater, RiuArt workshop, shops, a disco, and the "Splash Water World" water park with 6 slides. Beach loungers are included.

Junior Suite

The modernized Junior Suites are located in the main building, are spacious, and feature a bathroom/toilet with a hydromassage bathtub, air conditioning, satellite TV, flat-screen TV, safe, minibar, beverage dispenser, coffee/tea maker, ironing board, and iron. They also offer a small seating area with a sofa bed and a balcony or terrace (JS2/JS1/K3J/KJ1/KJ2). Also available as a Junior Suite Superior with courtyard view (2JS/1JS).

Family Room

With the same amenities, these rooms feature one king-size bed and one queen-size bed, or three queen-size beds (depending on availability) and a seating area with a sofa bed (DF2). Also available as Family Room Courtyard View (2FA).

Two Bedroom Family Suite

With the same amenities, these rooms have two bedrooms with one king-size bed and a sofa bed, and two queen-size beds and a sofa bed (TFJ).

Villa Junior Suite Superior Adults Only

With the same amenities, bookable for ages 18 and over, with one king-size bed or two queen-size beds, and a seating area with a sofa (VJS).

In the Caribbean, most rooms are equipped with two queen-size beds (approx. 1.40 x 2m). For occupancy of 2 adults + 1/2 children/3 adults, no extra beds will be placed in the room, meaning occupancy is 2 people per bed, even if rollaway beds are listed on the confirmation!

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased occurrence of brown algae in the Caribbean. This affects the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are of course endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which can generate a slight noise.
