It is also an institution dedicated to developing projects for the conservation, education, and research of flora and fauna, such as projects involving the Cuvier's gazelle, the African elephant, and the Canary camel. Thanks to the latter project, the largest camel reserve in Europe is located here, where the benefits of camel milk for human health are being researched.

The park is open year-round and features several restaurants, a children's play area, and a petting farm. A shuttle service is also available (€6.50 per person/pick-up times vary by hotel, return trips at 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM). The distance between hotels/locations ranges from 6–30 km (15–30 minutes driving time).
