Location

The Monte Mar Palace hotel is located on the north coast in a fantastic panoramic position on the edge of the tranquil village of Ponta Delgada, directly above the sea. It serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the "flower island." The popular natural lava-rock sea pools are just approx. 15 km away. The vibrant island capital, Funchal, is about 40 km away.

The hotel has a total of 112 rooms, a lobby with reception, lift, the restaurant 'O Montado' (also à-la-carte), the cozy 'Cliff Bar', and an indoor pool. In addition to an unforgettable panoramic view, the well-maintained grounds offer a freshwater swimming pool, a children's pool, a sun terrace, and a pool bar. Sun loungers are included. Parasols and pool towels are available for a deposit.

The Double Rooms with mountain view (BD2) are renovated, approx. 25 m² in size, and elegantly and attractively furnished with twin beds or a double bed, shower, WC, hairdryer, telephone, cable TV, refrigerator, air conditioning, rental safe (for a fee), 2 bottles of water upon arrival, tea/coffee making facilities, and a furnished balcony.
Also bookable as Double Room Mountain View for single use (BD1).

Double Room Sea View

The Double Rooms with sea view (DM) are renovated, approx. 25 m² in size, and elegantly and attractively equipped with twin beds or a double bed, shower, WC, hairdryer, telephone, cable TV, refrigerator, air conditioning, rental safe (for a fee), 2 bottles of water upon arrival, tea/coffee making facilities, and a large balcony with a sea view. Also bookable as Double Room Sea View for single use (DEM).
Also available as Double Room Sea View Type I (DMI) at a special price, with limited availability and only bookable with half board.

Double Room Premium Sea View

The Double Rooms Premium Sea View (2PM) are larger than the Double Rooms Sea View, located on the 3rd floor, and offer high-quality amenities with wooden floors and furniture, a bathtub, 2 bottles of water upon arrival, tea/coffee making facilities, bathrobes, and slippers, as well as a large balcony with 2 sun loungers, from which the panoramic view can be enjoyed even better.
Also bookable as Double Room Premium Sea View for single use (1PM) for an additional charge.
From Winter 25/26 also available as Double Room Premium Sea View Type I (PMI) at a special price.

Suite Sea View

The Suites with sea view (S2M) are renovated and ideally suited for families with 1-2 children. They are correspondingly larger than the double rooms (approx. 50 m²) and, with otherwise identical amenities, feature a separate living room with a sofa bed, double beds, and a sea view.

Breakfast and dinner are served buffet-style or as a set menu (depending on hotel occupancy).
Poncha Workshop: All Schauinsland-Reisen guests are invited to participate once per stay (Saturdays 17:30–18:00) in a Poncha workshop at the hotel bar. Poncha is a traditional sugarcane spirit and is served everywhere.

A buffet featuring grapes, walnuts, cheese, passion fruit, and crackers for hotel or vacation enjoyment.
