Location

Located directly by the sea, on a cliff above "Doca do Cavacas" and "Praia Formosa" with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The centre of Funchal is approx. 4.5 km away, the "Praia Formosa" beach is about a 10-minute walk, and the Lido is just a few minutes away. Shopping facilities such as the modern "Forum" shopping centre are in the immediate vicinity, and a bus stop is located directly in front of the hotel.

The comfortable and modern 4-star hotel has a total of 172 rooms, suites and apartments spread over 7 floors and 3 building sections (A, B, and C). Amenities include a lobby with a reception and seating area, 2 lifts per building section, a restaurant, 2 bars, an internet corner (free of charge), Wi-Fi (free throughout the hotel area), a TV corner, and a library. In the well-maintained garden area, the freshwater swimming pool with a sun terrace and the "Goldenout" pool bar (open in summer) invites you to swim and relax. Separated from the adult pool, there is a dedicated children's pool. Guests also have access to a heated indoor pool.

Single room without balcony

Same facilities as the double rooms, but located in building A and without a balcony, with land view (EO).

Double room

The double rooms are located in building C, are approx. 34 m² in size, stylishly and high-quality furnished, with shower/WC, hairdryer, telephone, Wi-Fi (included), safe, satellite and cable TV, minibar (for a fee), kettle, air conditioning and a balcony with side sea view (DMS).
Available as a double room for single use with side sea view (DES).
Also available as a double room with side sea view Type O at a special price and with limited availability (SDO).

Apartment with side sea view

The apartments with side sea view are located in building B, are approx. 45 m² in size and, in addition to the same facilities as the double rooms, feature a living room/bedroom with a sofa bed and a fully equipped kitchenette (stove, microwave, etc.) (2AS).
Apartment with sea view available for an additional charge (2AM). Occupancy with 2 adults, 2 children, and 1 baby possible on request.
Also available as an apartment with side sea view Type O at a special price and with limited availability (ASO).

Premium Apartment with sea view (bookable from winter 26/27)

The Premium apartments with sea view have the same facilities as the apartments with side sea view, but are more spacious (approx. 62 m²) and have a sea view (PN2). Also bookable as a Premium apartment with side sea view Type O at a special price and with limited availability (2OS), as well as with direct sea view Type O (ASO).

Suite (Summer 26)

The suites (approx. 52 m²) have the same facilities as the apartments, but with a slightly smaller living room/bedroom, fully equipped kitchenette, located in building A (S2).
Suite with side sea view (building A) is available for an additional charge (MS2).
Also bookable as a suite Type O (SO) or suite with side sea view Type O (M2O) at a special price and with limited availability.

Zusatzhinweis

Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos heights, you can overlook the bay of Funchal and continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the bottom of an extinct volcano. At the bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nuns' Valley). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the Nossa Senhora do Monte church. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker sledges. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada – black scabbard fish – is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (at 580m, the highest sea cliff in Europe), and then the path leads us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, it goes upwards to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, it goes downhill to Porto Moniz to the natural sea pools. Here, the lunch break is taken. The return journey is via the north coast and leads through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, it goes up over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where one can see the north and south coasts simultaneously. Then return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). It then goes downhill to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which was named a World Heritage Site. The trip continues to Santana, which is known for its thatched houses. The lunch break is taken here. After that, it goes to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us after a approx. 1.5-hour Levada hike (difficulty level: easy) to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its around 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and tour included).

Arrival by car

Directions from Funchal Airport (FNC):
Take the motorway/expressway from the airport towards Funchal. Follow the expressway and take the "Hospital" exit.
Continue along the road until you reach a roundabout. Take the second exit. Continue along this road (Avenida Luis de Camões) until you reach a large intersection, then turn right (Estrada Monumental). Drive over a bridge, then keep going straight until you see Reid's Hotel on the left. Continue along the road (Estrada Monumental), pass the Lido (swimming complex) until you see the Forum Madeira shopping centre on the right.
After the Forum Madeira, continue straight until you reach a large roundabout, then head back towards the Forum Madeira shopping centre, but turn left at the first street. Then, follow the signs for the Golden Residence Hotel.
