It has a total of 315 rooms, junior suites, studios, and apartments. Star Tour Excursion Program (subject to change/Daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From Pico dos Barcelos hill, you overlook Funchal bay, and then continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down into the crater of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride in the traditional wicker sledges. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous Espada - black scabbardfish - is caught). Continue over Cabo Girão (highest cliff in Europe at 580m), and then the route leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, it goes uphill to the plateau of Pául da Serra (1400m). Finally, it descends to Porto Moniz to the natural sea pools. A lunch break is taken here. The return journey is via the north coast and leads through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, it ascends over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Then descend to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the heart of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), a UNESCO World Heritage site. The journey continues to Santana, famous for its thatched houses. A lunch break is taken here. Afterwards, head to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion leads us to the Botanical Garden after an approx. 1.5-hour Levada hike (difficulty: easy), famous for its approximately 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
