Location

This small, privately run country house is located above Calheta at an altitude of approximately 500 meters. Several Levada hiking trails start in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. You can reach the beach and the center of Calheta after about 3 km.

The charming, German-speaking managed hotel is family-friendly and consists of 5 building sections. It has only 22 individually designed rooms, a reception with hiking literature, a cozy restaurant where homemade specialties are served, a bar with a fireplace and library (Wi-Fi included throughout the house), a sauna, and a terrace leading to a approx. 12,000 m² flower, vegetable, and herb garden, where you will find a saltwater pool with sun loungers and umbrellas (included).

Arrival by car

From Madeira Airport (FNC):
Drive on the highway (VIA RAPIDA) via Funchal to Ribeira Brava (end of the VIA RAPIDA, start of the express road VIA ESPRESSO), at the roundabout, take the 1st exit towards Ribeira Brava. At the 2nd roundabout, take the direction towards Ponta do Sol (through the tunnel). From there, always follow the route through the tunnels until you reach Calheta. (You will pass the following towns: Lugar de Baixo, Ponta do Sol, and Madalena do Mar.)
At the Calheta roundabout, there are the following options: Lombo do Doutor, Prazeres, Estrela, and Calheta Center (symbolized by a dot in a circle).
Drive towards Prazeres. After 2 more tunnels, there is a first exit for Estreito da Calheta. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS! Wait until the next roundabout, then take the 1st exit from the roundabout towards Estreito da Calheta and follow the road slowly uphill for 1.3 km. Stay on the main road.
This road will eventually lead you to the old country road "ER 101". There, turn left towards Prazeres, Porto Moniz. (After 500 m, you will see the town entrance sign for Estreito da Calheta on the left.)
1.8 km after getting onto the ER 101, you will see an official sign labeled "Atrio". Turn right onto a paved path and follow it left uphill towards the forest. After 150 meters, hidden behind high walls on the right, you will find Atrio.
Should you have taken the first exit "Estreito da Calheta" after the tunnel, drive right uphill to the stop sign, then right again until you reach the country road "ER101".
