The "Bergbauernmuseum Z'Bach" (Mountain Farmer Museum), located approximately 2 km away, is also highly recommended. Once winter arrives, Niederau transforms into a winter wonderland. The main focus then shifts to winter sports due to the directly accessible Ski Juwel Alpbachtal-Wildschönau ski area, boasting a total of approximately 109 km of slopes.
Ski Juwel Alpbachtal-Wildschönau ski area: Altitude: approx. 650-2,025 m The 5 villages of Auffach, Niederau, Oberau, Alpbach, and Reith collectively form the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal-Wildschönau ski area, with a single ski pass valid for all villages. This winter sports area, particularly popular with families, features well-groomed slopes, freeriding opportunities, a race course, and beginner lifts for novices. Children can enjoy fun and games in the JUPPI-DO kids' area at the valley station. Skiers are not the only ones who will get their money's worth, as the area is considered a cross-country skiing paradise with approximately 50 km of classic cross-country trails. Various eateries near the slopes offer warming drinks and meals. Two snow parks and a toboggan run also promise plenty of fun.

The 4-star Harmony Hotel Sonnschein offers 142 units, including a welcoming lobby with seating and a fireplace, as well as a reception area. Your accommodation comprises a main building and a new extension, both connected. Enjoy culinary delights in the restaurant. You can end an eventful day at the hotel bar or in a sociable atmosphere at the public bar located approximately 150 m away. Cyclists can utilize the hotel's secure, lockable bicycle storage. A ski and snowboard storage room with boot dryers is available for your winter sports equipment. Smoking is not permitted throughout the hotel.
