Location

The Hotel Alte Post is located in the wonderful region of Tyrol, in close proximity to the center of Ellmau. The hotel enjoys a beautiful panoramic location at an altitude of approx. 820m. The nearest cafes and restaurants can be found after approx. 150m, and the nearest excursion destinations, such as the Kaiserbad indoor pool (approx. 1.3 km away), are also quickly reachable. The hotel is ideally suited for alpine skiers as well as cross-country skiers in winter. A free ski bus runs according to the timetable on site. The ski bus stop is located directly at the hotel. For beginner skiers, a ski school and a practice lift are available at approx. 250m. The Hartkaiserbahn cable car in the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental ski area is about 1.5 km from the hotel. The nearest cross-country ski trail is only about 200m away.

In summer, hotel guests can explore the wonderful landscape of the region on great hikes, past lush meadows and green forests. Especially in summer, in and around Ellmau, swimming in the Going bathing lake (approx. 2.5 km away) perfectly combines experiencing nature with sporting activities.

Ski area Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental:
Altitude: approx. 620-1,829 m
The 9 villages of Ellmau, Söll, Scheffau, Going, Westendorf, Brixen im Thale, Kelchsau, Hopfgarten, and Itter together form the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental ski area, with only one ski pass needed for all locations. The top winter sports area with its perfectly groomed slopes extends to a snow-sure altitude and offers off-piste slopes, a race course, various snow-making facilities, and a magnificent panorama. It also features a clear piste map with detailed information boards. Due to its children's area, it is ideally suited for children's first skiing attempts. With floodlights switched on, the slopes can also be beautifully skied at night. But it's not just skiers who get their money's worth here, as the area is considered a cross-country skiing Eldorado with approx. 70 km of classic cross-country trails. Those who want to send holiday greetings directly from the slopes to their friends and acquaintances will find Wi-Fi hotspots in the ski area for this purpose. Various inns and, of course, après-ski opportunities provide conviviality off the slopes as well as warming drinks and food. 5 snow parks promise lots of fun.
