Location

Spend your holiday in Hüttschlag at the family-friendly farm hotel Oberkarteis, idyllically situated at approx. 1020 m above sea level and about 2.7 km from the village center. Shops, restaurants, and cafés are conveniently reachable within about 3 km. The region offers numerous sights such as the Talmuseum (approx. 3.2 km) and the impressive Lichtsteinklamm gorge (approx. 19.6 km).
In summer, a paradise for hikers and cyclists awaits you: explore the extensive hiking trails of the Großarltal valley with over 100 km of routes right on your doorstep. A hiking bus will conveniently take you to the nearby hiking area. For swimming fun, there's the outdoor pool in Großarl (approx. 10 km), the Plankenau bathing lake (approx. 28 km), and the Geisterberg Alpendorf leisure park.
In winter, the accommodation is ideal for alpine skiers, cross-country skiers, and winter hikers. A free ski bus stops directly at the hotel and takes you to the Großarl-Dorfgastein ski area. For beginners, there's a practice lift right at the hotel. Cross-country ski enthusiasts will find around 30 km of trails in total. Additionally, there are about 50 km of winter hiking trails awaiting you.

Facilities

The family-friendly Familotel Bauernhof-Hotel Oberkarteis, built in 2012, was partially renovated in 2020 and extended in 2025. The comfortable 4-star accommodation offers a total of 28 cozy rooms, an inviting reception hall with seating, and a friendly reception desk. Amenities include an indoor pool, a terrace, charging stations for e-bikes and e-cars, and an in-house farm.
For your culinary well-being, there is a breakfast room, a restaurant, the hotel bar, and a cozy lounge. Cyclists can utilize the practical, in-house bicycle storage room.
For winter sports equipment, a lockable ski and snowboard storage room is available, along with heated ski boot rooms and dryers.

The family rooms in the main or annex building for max. 4 persons (2 adults, approx. 35-45 m²) feature satellite TV with integrated radio, telephone, shower, toilet, hairdryer, and a balcony. The rooms consist of a sleeping room with a double bed and a living/sleeping room with 2 fixed single beds.

Family Room Type B

The family rooms in the main or annex building for max. 6 persons (2 adults, approx. 35-45 m²) feature satellite TV with integrated radio, telephone, shower or bathtub, toilet, hairdryer, and a balcony. The rooms consist of two sleeping rooms, each with a double bed, and a living/sleeping room with a double sofa bed.
