Location

Spend your holiday in Hüttschlag at the family-friendly Bauernhof-Hotel Oberkarteis, idyllically located at approx. 1020 m above sea level and about 2.7 km from the town center. Shops, restaurants, and cafés are conveniently reachable within approx. 3 km. The region offers numerous attractions such as the Talmuseum (approx. 3.2 km) and the impressive Lichtsteinklamm gorge (approx. 19.6 km).
In summer, a paradise awaits hikers and cyclists: Explore the extensive hiking trails of the Großarltal valley with over 100 km of routes right outside your doorstep. A hiking bus will take you comfortably to the nearby hiking area. For swimming fun, there is the outdoor pool in Großarl (approx. 10 km), the Plankenau swimming lake (approx. 28 km), and the Geisterberg Alpendorf adventure park.
In winter, the accommodation is ideal for alpine skiers, cross-country skiers, and winter hikers. A free ski bus stops directly at the hotel and takes you to the Großarl-Dorfgastein ski area. For beginners, there is a practice lift right at the hotel. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts will find trails with a total length of around 30 km. Additionally, there are about 50 km of winter hiking trails.

Facilities

The family-friendly Familotel Bauernhof-Hotel Oberkarteis, built in 2012, was partially renovated in 2020 and expanded in 2025. The comfortable 4-star accommodation features a total of 28 cozy rooms, a welcoming lobby with seating areas, and a friendly reception. Amenities include an indoor pool, a terrace, charging stations for e-bikes and e-cars, and its own farm.
For your culinary well-being, there is a breakfast room, a restaurant, the hotel bar, and a cozy lounge. Cyclists can utilize the convenient, on-site bicycle storage room.
For winter sports equipment, a lockable ski and snowboard storage room is available, along with a heated ski boot room and boot dryers.
