Location

The Minos Mare hotel is located directly on a "Blue Flag" awarded sandy beach in Platanias near Rethymnon and, with its attentive service and manageable size, is an excellent retreat for relaxing vacation days. The town center of Rethymnon is approximately 5 km from the hotel. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafés, and tavernas can be found in the immediate vicinity. The distance to Heraklion airport is approximately 78 km and 72 km to Chania airport.

The modern and appealing complex is a Schauinsland-Reisen Original. With a total of 121 rooms, it features a lobby with a 24-hour reception, a main restaurant, an à-la-carte restaurant (seasonal and weather-dependent), a mini-market, a small library, and a souvenir shop. In the lush garden area, there is a pool bar with shaded seating, surrounded by palm trees. The freshwater swimming pool with a sun terrace and separate children's pool invites you to linger. Sun loungers and parasols are included at the pool and on the beach. Bath towels can be borrowed for a deposit. Wi-Fi is included throughout the hotel complex.

The friendly furnished rooms feature a shower/WC, hairdryer, toiletries, centrally controlled air conditioning, safe for rent, telephone, satellite TV, mini-fridge (one bottle of water included upon arrival), coffee/tea station, tiled floor, balcony or terrace (D).

Breakfast (7:30-10:30 a.m.), lunch (1-3 p.m.), and dinner (7-9:30 p.m.) buffet-style in the main restaurant with Greek as well as international dishes.
Light lunch with finger food at the "Aphrodite" bar (12:30-2:30 p.m.). Once per stay, a 5-course dinner at the "Poseidon" restaurant is included (seasonal and weather-dependent opening, reservation required).
At the "Aphrodite Bar," snacks are available from 10:45 a.m.-4 p.m., ice cream from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and coffee/tea with cake and cookies as well as desserts in the afternoon from 4-5 p.m.
Water, soft drinks, tea, and filter coffee are included with meals and from 10 a.m.-11 p.m. at the currently open bar. Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are included from 12 p.m.-11 p.m. at the currently open bar.

Destination information - Climate resilience tax

For stays from 1/1/2018, the Greek government levies a climate resilience tax, which is to be paid by the guest on site, comparable to a tourist tax. The amount depends on the type/category of the accommodation and, as of 1/1/2025, is staggered from 0.50 Euros to 15 € per day and room.
