Location

The Hotel Minos Mare is located directly on a sandy beach of Platanias near Rethymnon, awarded with the "Blue Flag", and is an excellent retreat for relaxing holidays with attentive service and a manageable size. The town center of Rethymnon is approx. 5 km from the hotel. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and tavernas are in the immediate vicinity. The distance to Heraklion Airport is approx. 78 km and to Chania Airport 72 km.

The modern and appealing complex is a schauinsland-reisen original. With a total of 121 rooms, it has a lobby with a 24-hour reception, Wi-Fi (included), a main restaurant, an à la carte restaurant (seasonal and weather-dependent), a mini-market, a small library, and a souvenir shop. In the lush garden, there is a pool bar with shaded seating areas surrounded by palm trees. The freshwater swimming pool with sun terrace and separate children's pool invites you to relax. Sun loungers and umbrellas are included by the pool and on the beach. Bath towels are included for a deposit.

The friendly furnished rooms have a shower/WC, hairdryer, toiletries, centrally controlled air conditioning (included), a safe for rent, Wi-Fi (included), telephone, satellite TV, mini-fridge (a bottle of water included upon arrival), coffee/tea station, tiled floor, balcony or terrace (D).
Alternatively, with the same amenities, also available for single use (DE) or slightly more spacious as a double room with a pool view and a whirlpool bath instead of a shower, bathrobes, and slippers (DP/PID) can be booked.

Breakfast (7:30 AM - 10:30 AM), lunch (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM), and dinner (7:00 PM - 9:30 PM) in buffet form at the main restaurant with Greek and international dishes.
Light lunch with finger food at the "Aphrodite" bar (12:30 PM - 2:30 PM). Once per stay, a 5-course dinner at the "Poseidon" restaurant is included (seasonal and weather-dependent opening, reservation required).
At the "Aphrodite Bar," snacks are available from 10:45 AM to 4:00 PM, ice cream from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and in the afternoon from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, coffee/tea with cakes and cookies, as well as desserts.
Water, soft drinks, tea, and filter coffee are included with meals and at the respective open bar from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are included at the respective open bar from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Note on Climate Resilience Levy

For stays from January 1, 2018, the Greek government levies a climate resilience tax, which must be paid by the guest on site, similar to a tourist tax. The amount depends on the type/category of accommodation and, from January 1, 2025, is tiered from 0.50 Euros to 15 Euros per day and room.
