Location

The Minos Mare hotel is located directly on a "Blue Flag" awarded sandy beach in Platanias near Rethymnon. With its attentive service and manageable size, it is an excellent retreat for a relaxing holiday. The town center of Rethymnon is approx. 5 km from the hotel. A selection of shops, restaurants, cafés, and taverns are in the immediate vicinity. The distance to Heraklion airport is approx. 78 km and to Chania airport 72 km.

This modern and appealing complex is a schauinsland-reisen original with 121 rooms. It features a lobby with a 24-hour reception, a main restaurant, an à-la-carte restaurant (seasonal and weather-dependent), a mini-market, a small library, and a souvenir shop. In the lush garden area, there is a pool bar with shaded seating, surrounded by palm trees. The freshwater swimming pool with sun terrace and separate children's pool invites you to relax. Sun loungers and parasols are included by the pool and on the beach. Pool towels can be borrowed for a deposit. Wi-Fi is included throughout the entire hotel complex.

The comfortably furnished rooms are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, toiletries, centrally controlled air conditioning, rental safe, telephone, satellite TV, mini-fridge (one bottle of water included upon arrival), coffee/tea station, tiled floor, and balcony or terrace (D).
Available optionally with the same facilities for single occupancy (DE), or as a more spacious double room facing the pool with a whirlpool tub instead of a shower, bathrobes, and slippers (DP/PID), as well as a double room pool side for single occupancy (DEP, only on selected dates).

Breakfast (7:30-10:30 a.m.), lunch (1:00-3:00 p.m.), and dinner (7:00-9:30 p.m.) buffet style in the main restaurant with Greek and international dishes.
Light lunch with finger food at the "Aphrodite" Bar (12:30-2:30 p.m.). A 5-course lunch in the "Poseidon" restaurant is included once per stay (open seasonally and weather-dependent, reservation required).
Snacks are available at the "Aphrodite Bar" from 10:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., ice cream from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and coffee/tea with cake, cookies, and desserts in the afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Water, soft drinks, tea, and filter coffee are included with meals and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the respectively open bar. Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the respectively open bar.

Note on climate resilience fee

For stays starting from 1/1/2018, the Greek government levies a climate resilience fee, which must be paid by the guest on site, comparable to a tourist tax.
The amount depends on the type/category of the accommodation and is scaled from 1/1/2025 between 0.50 Euro and 15 Euro per day and room.
