Location

The modern, small hotel Sofia Resort is located in a quiet area, approximately 900 m from the sandy beach of Kavros.
Shopping and entertainment options are available in the town; Georgioupolis is approx. 4.5 km away. A bus stop is located approx. 700 m away.
Chania Airport is about 50 km away, and Heraklion Airport is around 105 km away.

Facilities

The Schauinsland-Reisen-Original hotel, completely renovated in recent years (2019-2024), features 42 rooms. Amenities include a 16-hour reception, a buffet restaurant with terrace and sea views, a lounge bar, and a pool/snack bar. The highlight and centerpiece of the hotel is the rooftop bar with a magnificent panoramic view of the mountains and the sea, as well as a whirlpool, which invites you to relax. Wi-Fi is included throughout the property.
The well-maintained outdoor area features a swimming pool with a separate children's pool and sun terrace. Sun loungers and parasols are available free of charge by the pool and for a fee at the beach. Bath towels are available for a deposit; a fee applies for exchanges.

Junior Suite Superior

The Junior Suites, freshly renovated in 2024, feature a shower/WC, toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, individually adjustable air conditioning, ceiling fan, a large mirror, rental safe, satellite TV, kettle with tea/coffee, espresso machine (capsules refilled daily), mini-fridge, and a balcony or terrace (JU2).

Junior Suite Private Pool

The Junior Suites, freshly renovated in 2024, are located on the first floor and, in addition to the amenities of the standard Junior Suites, offer a balcony as well as a private pool (ZJP/ZIP/2ZJ).
This category is available for guests aged 13 and over.
The private pool is not supervised by a lifeguard. We ask for cautious behavior and special attention when using this area.

Superior Suite

The suites, also renovated in 2024, are decorated in a modern design and feature a bedroom, a separate living room with a sofa bed, shower/WC, toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, individually adjustable air conditioning, ceiling fan, a large mirror, rental safe, satellite TV, kettle with tea/coffee, espresso machine (capsules refilled daily), mini-fridge, and a balcony or terrace (SU2/TUB).
Also available for single occupancy (SU1/T1B).

Superior Suite Whirlpool

These offer the same amenities as the Superior Suites but include an outdoor whirlpool (PJ2).
The whirlpool is not supervised by a lifeguard. We ask for cautious behavior and special attention when using this area.
Rooms with direct pool/sea access present an increased safety risk for small children.
Therefore, for safety reasons, Schauinsland-Reisen requires a minimum age of 6 years for children when booking these room types.

Maisonette 2 Bedrooms

The very spacious maisonettes are perfectly suited for families; they are laid out over two floors and, in addition to the amenities of the Superior Suite, feature two separate bedrooms as well as a living/sleeping room with a sofa bed (MN2).

Destination information: Climate Resilience Tax

For stays starting from January 1, 2018, the Greek government levies a climate resilience tax, which must be paid by the guest on site, similar to a tourist tax. The amount depends on the type/category of the accommodation and, as of January 1, 2025, is graduated from 0.50 Euro to 15 € per day and room.
