Location

The family-run Amnissos Residence, managed with great care, is located in Pigianos Kampos, about 150 m from the sand/pebble beach (natural beach; bathing shoes recommended; at the "Paraplous" taverna; a road needs to be crossed; drinks and food are available there for a fee). A complimentary shuttle to the beach is offered if desired (please contact reception for details).
Shops and entertainment facilities are available in the immediate vicinity. The port city of Rethymnon, with its beautiful old town and lovely boulevards, is only approx. 8 km away. A bus stop is located in front of the hotel. Heraklion Airport is approx. 75 km away.

Built in a village-like style, the Schauinsland-Reisen original hotel was renovated in many areas for Summer 2023. It features 87 rooms spread across a main building and several bungalow buildings, offering a 24-hour reception, lobby, luggage room, Wi-Fi (included throughout the complex), and the buffet restaurant "Olive Tree".
A highlight is the newly built rooftop bar "Open Sky" (opened in 2023), which invites you for a cocktail with a beautiful view in the evenings. In the well-maintained outdoor area of the hotel, there is a swimming pool with an integrated children's pool and a renovated sun terrace, furnished with gazebos, poufs, and comfortable sun loungers for relaxing. The tropical Shisha Bar "Tropical" by the main pool also provides refreshments (shisha for a fee).
Sun loungers and umbrellas are included by the pool and on the beach (at the "Paraplous" taverna; the taverna charges a fee). Beach towels are available for a deposit. Parking spaces at the hotel are included, subject to availability.
Valid for Summer 2027:
From Summer 2027, the newly built "Diamond Spirit" area will offer additional amenities. A successful combination of modern and traditional Cretan elements, warm colors, olive trees, sand underfoot, and fragrant herb beds create a holiday atmosphere. A total of 147 rooms will be available. All guests will be warmly welcomed in the expanded lobby area with a 24-hour reception. The new, modern restaurant "Olive Tree" offers ample space, live cooking stations, and varied buffets with Cretan and Greek dishes, as well as international influences. The bar "Theros," adjacent to the restaurant, provides refreshments by the pool. The former restaurant is now available as the "Meli&Thymari" à la carte restaurant, offering authentic Cretan cuisine. In the new outdoor area, a pool surrounds the new building, inviting guests for laps (the pool has no interruptions; you can swim under the bridges; all room types can use the pool). All ground-floor rooms offer a terrace with private sun loungers and direct pool access. For rooms on the first floor, comfortable sun loungers and Bali beds are available around the pool.
Above the new buffet restaurant, the "Ammos&Nostos" lounge deck awaits guests seeking tranquility, offering a magnificent view and comfortable furnishings. The adjacent outdoor fitness area "VistaFit," equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, also offers yoga classes.
A central meeting point between the two hotel sections is the new, typically Cretan Kafenion "Rodaria." A place to enjoy Greek coffee, raki, and light meze dishes while engaging in pleasant conversations.
A special highlight is the new "Elaia" area – a place to relax under shady olive trees, with loungers for lounging, hammocks for dreaming, and six whirlpools.
For sporting variety, a newly constructed paddle court is also available.

Double Room Main Building

The double rooms located in the hotel's main building have a shower/WC, hairdryer, bath amenities, telephone, LCD satellite TV, Wi-Fi (incl.), individually adjustable air conditioning, safe (included), mini-fridge (can be used as a minibar on request, refilling for a fee), coffee/tea making facilities (daily refilling), and a balcony or terrace (D/DI). A bottle of water is provided in the room upon arrival.
Also bookable as single occupancy (DE).

Superior Bungalow

Equipped with the same amenities as the double rooms (in various designs), these rooms have been renovated and are located in the bungalow buildings (2BU/3BU/4BU). Also bookable as single occupancy (1BU/BUA).

Deluxe Bungalow

These rooms were newly constructed in Winter 2021/2022 and offer more modern amenities (2BD).

Whirlpool Bungalow

Feature the same amenities as the double rooms, are renovated, and are located on the upper or lower floor of the bungalow buildings with a whirlpool on the terrace (2CW).
Also bookable as single occupancy (C1Q).
The whirlpool is not supervised by a lifeguard. Guests are asked to use this area with care and attention.
Rooms with direct pool/sea access pose an increased risk for small children.
Therefore, for bookings of these room types, Schauinsland-Reisen has set a minimum age of 6 years for children for safety reasons.

Swim-Up Bungalow

Feature the same amenities as the double rooms, are renovated, and are located in the bungalow buildings with direct access to the communal pool (BSW).
Also bookable for single use (SWE).

Double Room Pool View (from 2027)

These rooms are located on the first floor in the new Diamond Spirit area and feature a shower, separate WC, and a furnished terrace. They are equipped with a 52'' Smart TV, individually adjustable air conditioning, safe, Wi-Fi, Nespresso coffee machine (daily refilled), tea maker (daily refilled), mini-fridge (filled daily with one large or two small bottles of water), hairdryer, and bath amenities. Once per stay, you can enjoy a private in-room breakfast (included).

Double Room Whirlpool (from 2027)

With the same amenities as the Pool View Double Rooms and also located in the Diamond Spirit area, these rooms feature a whirlpool on the spacious balcony and are additionally equipped with bathrobes.

Double Room Executive Swim-Up (from 2027)

These rooms are located on the ground floor of the new Diamond Spirit area and are surrounded by a lagoon-style pool landscape. Bridges connect the accommodations to the opposite side, where olive trees and sand harmoniously enhance the ambiance. With the same amenities as the Pool View Double Rooms, they are also equipped with bathrobes. Once per stay (min. 6 nights), you can enjoy a floating breakfast in the Lagoon Pool (upon request, at least 2 days in advance at reception).
Rooms with direct pool/sea access pose an increased risk for small children.
Therefore, for bookings of these room types, Schauinsland-Reisen has set a minimum age of 6 years for children for safety reasons.

Early bird breakfast (on request), breakfast (7:30 AM - 10 AM), lunch (1:30 PM - 3 PM), and dinner (7:30 PM - 9:30 PM) are served buffet-style with live cooking stations at the main restaurant "Olive Tree," featuring Greek and international cuisine.
Occasional theme nights are offered.
Freshly squeezed orange juice is included during breakfast.
Vegetarian and special dietary meals are available upon request. Please contact reception for details.
Snacks are available throughout the day from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, and ice cream from 12 PM to 4 PM.
Coffee/tea and pastries are served in the afternoon from 3 PM to 4 PM.
Amnissos Residence supports local Cretan companies with its beverages and prioritizes regional products. Therefore, only local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (water, soft drinks, fruit juices, draft beer, wine (red, white, rosé), whiskey, vodka, tequila, rum, gin, ouzo, raki, brandy) are included at the open bars from 11 AM to 11 PM.
Additionally, 10 different cocktails are included during this period (Blue Lagoon, Cosmopolitan, Tequila Sunrise, Cretan Margarita, Greek Sunset, Pina Colada, Strawberry Mojito, Bellini, White Lady, Tutti Frutti).

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served in the new main restaurant "Olive Tree." At the traditional Kafenion "Rodaria," Greek coffee, raki (tsikoudia), and simple Cretan meze will be served from 11 AM to 1 PM and 6 PM to 9 PM in an authentic, village atmosphere.
In addition to the "Tropical" and "Open Sky" bars, the new "Theros" bar will also be available from 11 AM to 11 PM (All Inclusive until 11 PM, open until 1 AM).
The hotel supports local Cretan companies with its beverages and prioritizes regional products. Note on Climate Resilience Levy

For stays from 01.01.2018 onwards, the Greek government levies a climate resilience fee, which is to be paid by the guest locally, similar to a tourist tax. The amount depends on the type/category of accommodation and ranges from 0.50 Euros to 15 Euros per day and room from 01.01.2025 onwards.
