Location

The resort is located on the private island of Maafushi in the Dhaalu Atoll, which is connected by a walkway to the neighboring island of Kedigandu and the sister hotel Riu Palace Maldivas. Transfer is via domestic flight (approx. 45 minutes) to the airport island of Kudahuvadhoo, followed by a speedboat ride (approx. 15 minutes). A seaplane transfer (approx. 45 minutes) can be booked for an extra charge and upon request.

Facilities

The Riu Atoll Maafushi Island, which opened in May 2019, features 264 rooms spread across the island and on stilts over the water. Amenities include an open-plan lobby with reception and seating areas, a boutique, a hairdresser, and a mini-market. Dining options include a main restaurant, two specialty restaurants (steakhouse and Italian cuisine), and three bars. Outside, the swimming pool with a swim-up bar (access to swim-up bar from age 18) and the adjoining children's pool invite you to relax. Sun loungers, parasols, and pool towels are available free of charge.

Double room

The rooms (approx. 31 m²) are located in two-story buildings on the upper floor and feature a shower/WC, hairdryer, air conditioning, ceiling fan, satellite TV, safe, minibar, seating area, and a balcony with sea view (DM/DEM).

Beach Room

With the same features and size as the double rooms with sea view, these rooms are located on the ground floor and feature a terrace (2BQ/1BQ).

Overwater Junior Suite

With similar features to the double rooms with sea view, this room category is situated on stilts over the water and is more spacious (37 m²). Additional amenities include bathrobes and slippers, a liquor dispenser, and direct access to the sea (O2V).

Overwater Junior Suite Superior

Same features as the Overwater Junior Suite, but more spacious (41 m²) and with an additional bathtub (O2U).

Speedboat: Operation expected for arrivals/departures from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. // Domestic flight: Operation expected for arrivals/departures from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. // Seaplane: Operation expected for arrivals/departures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Waiting times of 3 hours or more for onward transfer are possible.
There may be 1–2 intermediate stops during seaplane transfers.
For arrivals/departures outside these times, an overnight stay in Malé must be booked in advance. The costs for this must be borne by the guest. Exceptions are changes due to flight delays, bad weather, or long waiting times at customs (in such cases, our local agency will take care of a possible overnight stay).
Seaplane flights and most boat transfers (depending on the island's location) as well as currently most domestic flights are only carried out during daylight hours. It may therefore be necessary to stay overnight in Malé.

In the Maldives, most rooms are equipped with one or two queen/king-size beds. With an occupancy of 2 adults + 1 or 2 children, there may only be a total of 1 or 2 large beds available. Accordingly, it may happen that when 2 adults + 1 or 2 children are in one room, one child must sleep in the parents' bed. Seaplane flights and most boat transfers (depending on the island's location) as well as currently most domestic flights are only carried out during daylight hours. It may therefore be necessary to stay overnight in Malé.

The baggage allowance for seaplanes is 20 kg + 5 kg hand luggage per person. Excess baggage must be paid for on-site (approx. 5 USD per kg). Excess baggage is usually delivered by boat.
