Location

The resort is located on the private island of Maafushi in the Dhaalu Atoll, connected by a walkway to the neighboring island of Kedigandu and its sister hotel, Riu Palace Maldivas. Transfers are provided by domestic flight (approx. 45 minutes) to the airport island of Kudahuvadhoo, followed by a speedboat ride (approx. 15 minutes). Seaplane transfers (approx. 45 minutes) can be booked on request for an additional charge.

Facilities

Newly opened in May 2019, Riu Atoll Maafushi Island features 264 rooms spread across the island and on stilts over the water. Amenities include an open-air lobby with reception and seating areas, a boutique, a hairdresser, and a mini-market. Dining options include a main restaurant, two specialty restaurants (steakhouse and Italian cuisine), and three bars. The outdoor area features a swimming pool with a swim-up bar (access to swim-up bar for guests 18 and older) and an adjacent children's pool. Sun loungers, parasols, and pool towels are available free of charge.

Double room

These rooms (approx. 31 m²) are located in two-story buildings on the upper floor and feature a shower/WC, hairdryer, air conditioning, ceiling fan, satellite TV, safe, minibar, seating area, and a balcony with sea view (DM/DEM).

Beach Room

With the same features and size as the sea-view double rooms, these rooms are located on the ground floor and feature a terrace (2BQ/1BQ).

Overwater Junior Suite

Similar in features to the sea-view double rooms, this room category is situated on stilts over the water and is more spacious (37 m²). Additional amenities include bathrobes and slippers, a liquor dispenser, and direct access to the sea (O2V).

Overwater Junior Suite Superior

Same features as the Overwater Junior Suite, but more spacious (41 m²) and includes an additional bathtub (O2U).

Speedboat: Planned for arrivals/departures between 5:00 AM and 11:00 PM // Domestic flight: Planned for arrivals/departures between 9:30 AM and 4:00 PM // Seaplane: Planned for arrivals/departures between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Waiting times of 3 hours or more for onward transfers are possible.
Seaplane transfers may include 1–2 intermediate stops.
For arrivals/departures outside these times, an overnight stay in Malé must be booked in advance. The costs for this are to be borne by the guest. Exceptions apply to changes caused by flight delays, bad weather, or long waiting times at customs (in which case our local agency will take care of any necessary overnight stay).
Seaplane flights and most boat transfers (depending on the island's location), as well as currently most domestic flights, only operate during daylight hours. Therefore, an overnight stay in Malé may be necessary.

In the Maldives, most rooms are equipped with one or two queen/king-size beds. For a room occupancy of 2 adults + 1 or 2 children, only 1 or 2 large beds may be available. Accordingly, it may happen that when occupying a room with 2 adults + 1 or 2 children, a child must sleep in the parents' bed.

The baggage allowance for seaplanes is 20 kg + 5 kg of hand luggage per person. Excess baggage must be paid for on-site (approx. 5 USD per kg). Excess baggage is usually delivered later by boat.

In the Maldives, sinks or even bathtubs/whirlpools may be openly integrated into the general living area of the hotel room without a spatial partition.
