Location

The unique "Le Mersenne Zanzibar" is located on the picturesque Michamwi Peninsula and is situated directly on a pristine beach. Another dream beach, "Paje Beach", is 12 km away, and the "Michamvi Sandbank" is 1 km away. The transfer to the hotel from the international airport takes approximately 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. The hotel is located approximately 80 minutes' drive from Stone Town, the oldest part of Zanzibar City.

This luxury hotel opened in December 2022 and consists of 61 elegant rooms featuring a modern design with traditional African craftsmanship. Here, guests can enjoy international and culinary delicacies at the "La Mer" restaurant right by the sea and savor local culture and flavors. The first-class hospitality ensures a relaxed and restful holiday. The outdoor area includes a swimming pool, a bar, and another à-la-carte restaurant (Roof-Top BBQ, available for lunch and dinner for a fee). There is also a lobby bar and a fitness room.

We would like to inform you that all airlines from Tanzania are currently on the EU's so-called ‘blacklist’. For this reason, they are currently not authorised to operate long-haul flights to the EU. We are therefore not currently using any of these airlines for our long-haul flights to the EU.
The lack of authorisation is not due to specific safety problems with the individual airlines, but rather to the inspection and safety procedures of the Tanzanian aviation authority, which do not currently meet the safety requirements of the EU.
However, the airlines that we use for domestic flights (for example, for transfer flights from Zanzibar to mainland Tanzania) are subject to the international safety assessment ISSA of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) or a comparable safety assessment. These assessments correspond to the globally recognised safety standards of the aviation industry.
