Location

Directly on a 2 km long beach with a coral reef. Playa del Carmen is approx. 25 km away, Tulum approx. 35 km. The transfer time from the airport is approx. 70 minutes.

Facilities

The Hotel Barceló Maya Beach is designed in Maya style and has 478 rooms in three-story buildings. It is part of the Maya Grand Resort along with three other hotels. The entrance area includes a reception, lobby with bar, various shops, sports bar (24h buffet), 1 buffet and 2 à la carte restaurants (including Japanese, Italian, Mexican, and Spanish) as well as 1 grill restaurant by the pool. Further amenities include a large pool area with sun terrace and grill restaurant, 4 pools (one per hotel), Olympic pool, whirlpool, children's pool with a small water park, pool bars, and a large covered open-air theater and disco. New shopping and entertainment options in the Maya Mall, including a teen disco and bowling alley (for a fee).

Superior Double Room

The comfortable rooms are decorated in Caribbean style and feature a king-size bed or 2 double beds, bathroom, toilet, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers, air conditioning, digital safe (incl.), telephone, Wi-Fi, LCD TV, sofa, minibar (water, soft drinks, beer incl.), and balcony or terrace. These rooms may also be located in other parts of the Barceló Maya Grand Resort. Also bookable as a Young Traveler Room and as a Super Saver Room (in a less favorable location).

Junior Suite Ocean Front Premium Level Caribe

With the same amenities as the Superior Double Room, but slightly more spacious and with Premium Level benefits: Individual check-in and check-out, exclusive concierge service, VIP minibar (soft drinks, mineral water, national beers, and snacks), exclusive bath amenities, turn-down service, exclusive access to the Premium Level Lounge, and much more. The rooms are located in the Caribe section of the Barceló Maya Grand Resort.

In the Caribbean, most rooms are equipped with two queen-size beds (approx. 1.40 x 2m). If the occupancy is 2 adults + 1/2 children/3 adults, no extra beds will be placed in the room, meaning occupancy is 2 people per bed, even if extra beds are listed on the confirmation!

Hotels in Mexico are gradually introducing an "Eco-Tax".

A tourism tax came into force on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approx. 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

Smoking ban

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased amounts of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased presence of brown algae is often observed in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are naturally endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local authorities. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may cause some noise.
