Effective immediately, hotels in Mexico are introducing an "Eco-Tax." As a result, every guest in a hotel room in Mexico is required to pay a mandatory environmental levy to the state, payable in cash at the hotel, similar to a tourist tax.

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax was implemented, which currently amounts to a one-time fee of 224 Mexican pesos (approx. 11 US dollars) per person, regardless of the planned duration of the stay in the country.

Smoking ban

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punishable by fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, there may be an increased occurrence of seagrass and algae due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased accumulation of brown algae in the Caribbean is often recorded during this time. This can impact the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities naturally strive to clean the affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administration. However, the use of appropriate machinery is required for this, which may cause a slight noise level.
