Location

The hotel is located in the quiet hotel zone of Playacar directly on the fine sandy beach. Cancun Airport is approximately 60 km away, and Playa del Carmen is about 4 km away.

The resort complex consists of two separate hotels separated by a tropical forest. Guests can use the amenities of the Quetzal Hotel. The Iberostar Tucán has 350 rooms in 3-story buildings, a lobby with a reception and bar. The resort also offers a main restaurant, five specialty restaurants, 4 bars, and a theater. In the tropical complex, inspired by local Mayan culture, there is a large pool area with an aquabar and an activity pool. Sun loungers and towels are included by the pool and on the beach. Wi-Fi is available free of charge throughout the resort.

Premium Room

The double rooms (approx. 35 sqm) have a king-size bed or two double beds, bath/shower/WC, air conditioning, ceiling fan, flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, safe, coffee machine, and hairdryer. The rooms also have a balcony (PR1/PR2/PPR). Also bookable as Premium Tropical View with garden view (PTZ).

Double Room Premium Near Pool

With the same amenities as the Premium Rooms, but located near the pool (NPS).

Double Room Premium Near Beach

With the same amenities as the Premium Rooms, these are located in a preferred spot directly by the pool near the beach (BPN).

Junior Suite

The Junior Suites (approx. 38 sqm) have the same amenities as the double rooms but are more spacious and modern. They feature a king-size bed and a balcony with jungle view (JS2/JS1).

Junior Suite Ocean View

The Junior Suite Ocean View (approx. 38 sqm) has the same amenities as the double rooms, but is located on the first or second floor, is more spacious, and has a balcony with sea view (JOV).

Family Room

The Family Rooms (approx. 70 sqm) consist of two double rooms with a connecting door and are equipped like the double rooms. One room has a king-size bed and the other has 2 double beds (DF2/KD2/KD3).

Junior Suite Ocean Front Beach Access (W22/23)

The suites have the same amenities as the other suites but are only a few steps from the beach (JFF).

Note

In the Caribbean, most rooms are equipped with two double beds (approx. 1.40 x 2m). For double occupancy + 1/2 children/3 adults, no extra beds are placed in the room, meaning occupancy: 2 people per bed, even if extra beds are listed on the confirmation!

One Bedroom Family (CUN206I)

Modern and family-friendly rooms of approx. 38 sqm overlooking the surrounding tropical vegetation. Natural materials and loving details create a relaxed atmosphere. In addition to other similar amenities to the Premium Rooms, family-friendly features include a bunk bed and a sofa (not a sofa bed) (2FP).

Penthouse Suite Ocean Front (CUN206I)

Spacious suite facing the sea on the upper floor with an impressive view of the Caribbean Sea. The expansive terrace invites relaxation and is perfectly complemented by a private whirlpool. The high-quality furnishings include one bedroom with a king-size bed and another bedroom with two double beds. Furthermore, the suite has a separate living and dining area and a fully equipped kitchen (OX2/OX1).

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased presence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased occurrence of brown algae in the Caribbean. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are of course making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local authorities. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which can cause some noise.
