****************************************
Hotels in Mexico are gradually introducing an "Eco-Tax" from now on.
This means that every user of a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a levy to the state locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.
****************************************
As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been in force and currently amounts to a one-time fee of 224 Mexican Pesos or approx. 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

Features the Winnow system to reduce food waste, 3R devices for
waste management in the hotels, and installed drinking water fountains.
We have two coral nurseries in front of the complex where we work with our
scientific team to restore coral reefs.
Together with the community where the Paraiso complex is located, we monitor the
hotel beaches for turtle nests, which are then relocated to camps set up for this
activity.
We maintain mangrove areas in our Paraiso complex, which help protect our coasts
and hotels from storms and hurricanes.
Community Tourism Project in the Riviera Maya: The project takes place in the Caribbean
community of Chemuyil in Quintana Roo. It is carried out by the cooperative Bejil-Ha Riviera Maya,
which was originally founded by seven passionate locals dedicated to the conservation of more than 50 cenotes in the region and the protection of the native flora and fauna of the Yucatan Peninsula. This initiative benefits over 30
local families and promotes awareness and conservation of the area. It offers
exclusive itineraries and invites guests to explore the community and its natural surroundings with
experienced local guides. Excursions include bike tours, visits to
cenotes, and a local gastronomic experience.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished by fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal Note

For stays between April and December, increased seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased amount of brown algae is often observed in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are naturally making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local authorities. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which generates some noise.
