Hotels in Mexico will gradually be introducing an "Eco-Tax."
This requires every occupant of a hotel room in Mexico to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel, similar to a tourist tax.

A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, brown algae are often found in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are endeavoring to clean affected beach areas in cooperation with municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate some noise.
