The resort was created by combining the former Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Perla and Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmeralda.

Hotels in Mexico are gradually introducing an "Eco-Tax".
This means that every occupant of a hotel room in Mexico is obliged to pay a fee to the state locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been in effect and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

No Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations may be punishable by fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal Information

During stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may be observed due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased presence of brown algae is often noted in the Caribbean during this period, affecting the beach and sea. Hotel management and local authorities are, of course, making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which can generate a slight noise level.
