**************************************
From now on, hotels in Mexico will gradually introduce an "Eco-Tax".
This obliges every user of a hotel room in Mexico to pay a tax to the state locally at the hotel, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
A tourism tax came into force on April 1, 2021 and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can also be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars with you. In Mexico, washbasins or bathtubs/whirlpools may be integrated openly into the living area of the hotel room without spatial separation.

No Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal Information

During stays between April and December, an increased occurrence of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature and currents. In particular, an increased presence of brown algae is often observed in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. The hotel management and local authorities are of course endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which emits a slight background noise.
