The Sandos Caracol Eco Resort is located on the Riviera Maya, in front of a sandy beach and nestled in a unique vegetation between jungle, mangroves and natural lagoons (cenotes). The hotel is 15 minutes from the center of Playa del Carmen and 50 minutes from the airport.

Facilities

The Sandos Caracol Eco Resort consists of 2 different areas. The family area and the Select Club area. The facilities of the entire complex include 7 restaurants, two 24-hour snack bars (incl. vegetarian/vegan), 10 bars, three swimming pools, one of which is exclusively for the Select adults-only area, a water park with 29 slides, as well as a spa area and a disco bar. Free Wi-Fi in the outdoor area in the Eco Signature and Select rooms and in the Beach Club House. The hotel also offers the All Nature experience, a variety of nature activities and Mayan performances where guests can experience local fauna, flora, and culture up close. In addition, an Aqua Park is available to guests.

The newly renovated rooms feature a king-size bed and a bunk bed for 2 children, shower/WC, bathrobe, hairdryer, air conditioning, cable TV, iron & ironing board, alarm clock, minibar, safe (laptop size), cosmetic mirror, hot and cold drinking water dispenser, Wi-Fi and balcony or terrace with garden, jungle or pool view. Family Suite

These rooms have the same amenities as the Superior rooms, but offer a bunk bed for 3 children in a separate children's room, 2 showers/WC and a balcony with a plunge pool. (2FS/KF3/KF6).

Superior Select Club Adults Only

The tastefully furnished rooms have a king-size or two queen-size beds, shower/WC, bathrobe, hairdryer, air conditioning, cable TV, iron & ironing board, ceiling fan, alarm clock, safe (laptop size), minibar (soft drinks and beer - daily refill), drinking water dispenser and balcony or terrace with garden, jungle or pool view (2SZ/1SZ).

In the Caribbean, most rooms are equipped with two queen-size beds (approx. 1.40 x 2m). If the occupancy is 2 adults + 1/2 children/3 adults, no extra beds will be placed in the room, meaning occupancy: 2 people per bed, even if extra beds are listed on the confirmation!

All Inclusive

24-hour All-Inclusive includes breakfast, lunch and dinner in buffet form, also à la carte in the evening, snacks, national and international alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in the bars and restaurants, breakfast and lunch in the exclusive à la carte restaurant (for Select Club guests). Hotels in Mexico will be introducing an "Eco-Tax". This requires every user of a hotel room in Mexico to pay a local tax to the state in cash at the hotel.

A tourism tax came into force on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican pesos or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican pesos or US dollars.
In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be integrated openly without spatial separation in the general living area of the hotel room.

Smoking Ban

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal Note

For stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased amount of brown algae in the Caribbean. The beach and sea are affected by this. The hotel management and local authorities are, of course, making efforts to clean the affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which generates a slight noise.
