Effective immediately, hotels in Mexico will be implementing an "Eco-Tax". All hotel room users in Mexico are required to pay a contribution to the state locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.

As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been in effect and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos or approximately 11 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased presence of brown algae in the Caribbean. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are, of course, endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with the municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may cause a slight noise disturbance.
