In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be openly integrated into the general living area of the hotel room without spatial separation. As of April 1, 2021, a tourism tax has been in effect and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 72.63 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 3.72 US Dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.

Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is advisable to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transport, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

For stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may occur due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, an increased presence of brown algae is often observed in the Caribbean during this period. This affects the beach and the sea. Hotel management and local authorities are, of course, making efforts to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with local authorities. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may cause some noise.
