Effective immediately, hotels in Mexico will gradually introduce an "Eco-Tax".
This requires every hotel room user in Mexico to pay a state fee locally at the hotel in cash, similar to a tourist tax.
**************************************
A tourism tax came into effect on April 1, 2021, and currently amounts to a one-time payment of 224 Mexican Pesos, or approximately 11 US dollars per person, regardless of the planned duration of stay in the country.
The tax can be paid electronically before departure via the following link: http://www.visitax.gob.mx/sitio/
Alternatively, the tax can be paid in cash upon arrival at the airport. It is recommended to carry the exact amount in Mexican Pesos or US Dollars. In Mexico, sinks or bathtubs/whirlpools may be openly integrated into the general living area of the hotel room without spatial separation.

No smoking policy

Smoking is prohibited in all public places in Mexico. This also applies to public transportation, beaches, parks, hotels, and restaurants. Violations can be punished with fines or imprisonment.

Seasonal information

For stays between April and December, increased occurrences of seaweed and algae may be observed due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, brown algae are frequently prevalent in the Caribbean during this period, affecting the beach and sea. Hotel management and local authorities are, of course, endeavoring to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with municipal administrations. However, this requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may generate some noise.
