Location

The hotel is situated, surrounded by subtropical vegetation, directly above the white, fine-sand bay of Esmeralda, with a wonderful view of the sea. Guardalavaca is approx. 5 km away, and the airport in Holguin is approx. 65 km away.

Facilities

The resort consists of the Hotel Sol Rio de Mares and the Hotel Sol Rio de Luna. The reception area is open and spacious with a reception desk and the 24-hour lobby bar "1492". The hotel features 7 bars, 1 buffet restaurant with an open terrace, 4 à-la-carte restaurants (Cuban, Italian, Mediterranean, and International. 2 reservations per week included), and the evening discotheque in front of the beach bar "La Nina". Furthermore, the hotel offers two freshwater pool areas with a separate children's pool, a swim-up bar, and a sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols. The offering is complemented by a boutique, a souvenir shop, and a 24-hour medical and laundry service (for a fee). Our guests have full access to the facilities of both properties.

Accommodation is in spacious rooms at the Sol Rio de Mares or Sol Rio de Luna. These are equipped with bath/shower, WC, air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, telephone, hairdryer, rental safe, and a balcony or terrace.

With the same amenities as the double rooms, these large rooms consist of a living area with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and feature a large balcony or terrace with a side or direct sea view.

Note

In the Caribbean, most rooms are equipped with two queen-size beds (approx. 1.40 x 2m). For an occupancy of 2 adults + 1/2 children/3 adults, no extra beds are provided in the room; meaning: 2 people per bed, even if extra beds are listed on the confirmation!

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in buffet style. Gentlemen are required to wear long trousers for dinner. Snacks, national and international alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (24 hours). All restaurants and bars of the Sol Rio de Luna are also at your disposal (a total choice between 5 restaurants and 7 bars), minibar (water only). Sun loungers, parasols, and pool towels are included at the pool and beach.

Sports included

Fitness room with sauna, windsurfing and sailing instruction, snorkeling, pedal boats, catamaran, introductory diving in the pool (upon request, 1x per stay), 2 hard tennis courts, table tennis, minigolf, beach volleyball, darts, oversized chess board.
