The hotel is located directly on the sandy beach of Playa Bavaro. Restaurants, bars, and various shopping and entertainment venues are in the vicinity. The international airport of Punta Cana is only 25 km away.

Facilities

The Iberostar Selection Bavaro, completely renovated in winter 19/20, consists of a total of 598 rooms that leave nothing to be desired. They are spread across several two-story bungalows within the tropical hotel grounds. Furthermore, the hotel features a lobby with a reception, a buffet restaurant, 6 à-la-carte restaurants (Greek, gourmet, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, and steakhouse), a beach restaurant, 5 bars, a swim-up bar, a garden area with a lagoon-style pool landscape, a sun terrace, and a snack bar.

Junior Suite

The Junior Suites feature a sleeping and living area with a sofa bed, coffee/tea maker, minibar, air conditioning, ceiling fan, safe, Wi-Fi (included), telephone, bathroom with shower/WC, hairdryer, and a balcony or terrace (JS2/JS1/KJ1/KJ2). Also bookable as an Oceanfront Junior Suite (2JO) and in winter as a super-saver room (SSZ/SSE).

Junior Suite Tropical View

With the same amenities and size as the Junior Suites, these are located closer to the sea and offer an additional turndown service (1x per stay), and garden or pool view (PTZ). Also bookable as a Junior Suite Near Pool (NPS) located closer to the pool. Also bookable as a Junior Suite Near Beach (JNB) closer to the beach, or as a Junior Suite Ocean Front (2JO) in the first beach row with sea view.

Family Suite

With otherwise the same amenities and size as the Junior Suites, these consist of two Junior Suites with a connecting door (2FS/KF3/KF5/KF6).

Spa Junior Suite

With the same amenities and size as the Junior Suites with a king-size bed or two double beds, tea set, and bathrobes (J2F).

Junior Suite Pool Access

With the same amenities as the Junior Suite, these rooms feature a terrace and are located directly by the pool (no private pool, no sharing pool) (2YZ).
Rooms with direct pool access pose an increased safety risk for young children. Therefore, for security reasons, schauinsland-reisen requires a minimum age of 6 years for children when booking these room types.

Note

In the Caribbean, most rooms are equipped with two queen-size beds (approx. 1.40 x 2m). For an occupancy of 2 adults + 1/2 children/3 adults, no extra beds will be placed in the room; this means occupancy: 2 people per bed, even if extra beds are listed on the confirmation!

Junior Suite Pool Access Terrace (PUJ192I)

Equipped similarly to the Junior Suites Pool Access, these Junior Suites are located immediately by the pool, accessible via the terrace (no private pool, no sharing pool, JRT). Optionally also bookable for single occupancy (T1D).

Guests staying in the Bávaro complex can visit the Coral Lab to see corals and learn more about them. Thanks to the two coral nurseries in front of the hotel, we work with our scientific team to restore the reefs.
The hotel has its own composting facility. Organic waste is converted into compost that we can use for our gardens.
We are part of the country's national mangrove restoration program, and in the Bávaro complex, we have planted more than 19,000 mangroves donated by the Ministry of the Environment.
Beehives are rescued and brought to the apiary we have in the complex, which can be visited by all guests.
In collaboration with the National Aquarium, the Dominican Institute of Environmental Law, and the Blue Flag program, the National Aquarium rescues turtles. As soon as they reach an appropriate size and state of health, they are released on the beaches of the Iberostar hotels.

Seasonal information

During stays between April and December, there may be an increased occurrence of seagrass and algae due to wind, temperature, and currents. In particular, there is often an increased appearance of brown algae in the Caribbean during this time. The beach and sea are affected by this. The hotel management and local authorities are, of course, striving to clean affected beach sections in cooperation with municipal administrations. This requires the use of appropriate equipment, which may cause a slight background noise.
