Discover Madeira's diverse landscapes with 2 hikes ranging from beginner-friendly to challenging. On-site, you can choose your 2 favorites from a current selection of 6 varied, German-guided hikes. On the day of your hike, you will be picked up from your hotel by transfer bus. You will spend the rest of your vacation in your chosen hotel.
Accommodation for all variants is in a hotel of your choice in the Funchal or Canico/Canico de Baixo region.

The hiking package includes 2 guided full-day hikes. You can choose from currently 6 available guided hikes.
Please note that some hikes involve up to 5 hours of pure walking time with ascents of up to 600 meters. Good physical condition, sure-footedness, and a head for heights are required. You do not need special equipment, but good hiking shoes, sun/rain protection, a water bottle, and a flashlight should be part of your basic gear. Subject to changes regarding the implementation days and the hikes themselves!

Hike 1: LEVADA 'JARDIM BOTANICO'+ Botanical Garden including entrance (Monday), bookable in all seasons
On this easy levada hike, you will discover the flora and fauna of Madeira and the 3000 plant species in the Botanical Garden.
Duration: approx. 1:15 hrs. (plus transfer time) + visit to Botanical Garden, length: approx. 2.5 km, type: half-day levada hike, difficulty: easy, hiking shoes required.
Please note that due to the included entrance fee for the Botanical Garden, this half-day hike is charged as a full-day hike.

Hike 2: LEVADA 'QUEIMADAS/CALDEIRAO VERDE' (Monday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
Lush laurel forest lines the path of this oldest levada on Madeira. The destination of the tour is a shady, fern-covered rock basin with a high waterfall. You will overcome some altitude and walk through several tunnels. Duration: approx. 4:30 hrs. (plus transfer time), length: approx. 13 km, type: full-day levada hike, difficulty: moderate, hiking shoes and flashlight required.

Hike 3: LEVADA 'DO RIBEIRO FRIO/PORTELA' (Friday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
Hike through pristine nature with breathtaking views of narrow canyons and wide valleys with the Eagle Rock in the background. Duration: approx. 4 hrs. (plus transfer time), length: approx. 11 km, type: full-day levada hike, difficulty: moderate, hiking shoes required.

Hike 4: LEVADA 'RABACAL/25 FONTES' (Wednesday/Sunday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
A beautiful 4-hour hike across 2 levadas with lush vegetation and waterfalls (Risco/25 Springs).
Duration: approx. 4 hrs. (plus transfer time), length: approx. 11 km, type: full-day levada hike, difficulty: moderate, hiking shoes and flashlight required.

Hike 5: LEVADA 'DO REI' (Saturday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
This levada hike leads through the beautiful valley of São Jorge. Hike through Madeira's rainforest and discover the variety of herbs and medicinal plants that thrive in abundance in this valley. Walk through or behind a waterfall and discover a true paradise on earth. The incredible beauty of this place, where silence reigns, is breathtaking. You will hardly be able to describe this mystical place with words. Duration: approx. 4 hrs. (plus transfer time), length: approx. 11 km, type: full-day levada hike, difficulty: moderate, hiking shoes required.

Hike 6: HIKE 'PONTA DE SAO LOURENCO' (Thursday) full-day (bookable in all seasons)
Hike with spectacular views of the rugged rock landscape characterized by tuff and basalt. It becomes clear here that the island of Madeira is 100 percent of volcanic origin. Depending on the position of the sun, the play of colors changes on the bizarre rock formations on the way to the easternmost tip of the island. The 15-minute ascent at the end of the tour to the 'Elephant's Head' is worth it. Phenomenal views make this tour a unique experience.
Duration: approx. 3:30 hrs. (plus transfer time), length: approx. 4 km, type: full-day hike, difficulty: moderate/hard, hiking shoes required.

IT-Note: The hiking combo can be added when booking hotels in Funchal or Canico, or you can book the excursion package separately with code FNC501 (Requirement H) for at least a 1-week hotel stay in the Funchal or Canico/Canico de Baixo region. If you would like 2 hiking packages, a stay of at least 11 days must be booked and the second hiking package booked separately; the system does not automatically pull 2 hiking packages.

Applies from Jan 1, 2026, changes possible.)

An extension stay can optionally take place either in the hotel already booked or in another hotel on Madeira. The intermediate transfer from your hotel to the extension hotel must generally be organized by yourself.

You decide the order of the hikes on-site. It is not possible to reserve specific hikes in advance. No minimum number of participants, guaranteed execution (weather-dependent). Subject to changes regarding excursions.
