Location

This popular hotel, offering magnificent sea views, is terraced into the coastline above the pebble beach of Arieiro. The island capital, Funchal, with its lively old town and many sights, is approx. 6 km away. The cozy fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is just approx. 2 km away and can be reached directly via the adjacent seaside promenade. A complimentary shuttle bus to Funchal runs several times a day (Monday to Friday).

The adults-only Orca Praia Hotel is modern and comfortably furnished, featuring a total of 128 rooms, a reception, lift, lounge, Sunset Bar, and a panoramic restaurant with a magnificent view over the Atlantic. A paved path leads to a bathing plateau at sea level, bordered by rocks, which features a freshwater swimming pool, 'Ocean' snack bar, and sun terrace (beach towels available for a deposit; sun loungers and parasols included).

Double room superior sea view

The pleasantly furnished double rooms superior sea view (approx. 28 m²) are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, cable and satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, safe for rent (for a fee), Wi-Fi (incl.), and balcony. All rooms have sea views, a minibar/fridge, kettle, and Nespresso machine (DMU).
Also bookable as a single room with a single bed (DME).
Additionally bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price in summer 2026. All travelers must be between 18 and 29 years old (YTR).

Double room superior sea view Type I

With the same facilities as the double room superior sea view, this room category is only bookable with half board (H) and half board plus (P) meal plans (DIM).

These correspond to the double room superior sea view and are exclusively bookable with Schauinsland-Reisen. Located on the top four floors, they offer a fantastic view over the Atlantic. Guests in this room category receive the following special services: stocked minibar in the room upon arrival, free use of the safe, as well as early check-in/late check-out (subject to availability) (XO2).

Zusatzhinweis

"Sternfahrt" excursion program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos hill, you overlook the bay of Funchal and continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the bottom of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns). Continue to Monte, where you visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker sleds. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous black scabbard fish – Espada – is caught). We continue via Cabo Girão (at 580m, the highest cliff in Europe), and then the path takes us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta de Sol, we head upwards to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, we descend to Porto Moniz to the natural sea swimming pools. This is where the lunch break is taken. The return journey is via the north coast and leads through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, we go up over the Encumeada Pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts at the same time. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). The route then goes downhill to Ribeiro Frio. Here, you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which has been declared a World Heritage Site. The trip continues to Santana, known for its thatched houses. This is where the lunch break is taken. Afterwards, we head to Pico do Facho. Finally, return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion takes us, after an approx. 1.5-hour levada hike (difficulty level: easy), to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its approx. 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
