Location

The popular hotel, with a magnificent view over the sea, is built in terraces into the coast above the pebble beach of Arieiro. The island capital, Funchal, with its lively old town and many sights, is approx. 6 km away. The cosy fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is only approx. 2 km away and can be reached directly via the adjoining seaside promenade. A complimentary shuttle bus to Funchal runs several times a day (Monday to Friday).

The adults-only hotel Orca Praia is modern and comfortably furnished and features a total of 128 rooms, reception, lift, lounge, Sunset Bar and a panoramic restaurant with a magnificent view over the Atlantic. A paved path leads to a swimming plateau at sea level, bordered by rocks, with a freshwater swimming pool, 'Ocean' snack bar and sun terrace (pool towels available for a deposit, sun loungers and parasols included).

Double room sea view

The double rooms with sea view (without balcony) have the same facilities as the superior double rooms with sea view, but without a balcony. There is a small step on the way from the lift to the room. (DM)

Superior double room sea view

The pleasantly furnished superior double rooms with sea view (approx. 28 m²) are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, cable and satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, rental safe (for a fee), Wi-Fi (incl.) and balcony. All rooms have a sea view, minibar/fridge, kettle and Nespresso machine (DMU).
Also bookable as a single room with a single bed (DME).
Additionally bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price in Summer 26. All travellers must be between 18 and 29 years old (YTR).

Superior double room sea view Type I

With the same facilities as the superior double rooms with sea view, this room category is only bookable with half board (H) or half board plus (P) meal plans (DIM).

Superior double room sea view upper floors

Correspond to the superior double rooms with sea view, are exclusively bookable via Schauinsland-Reisen, are located on the upper four floors and thus offer a fantastic view over the Atlantic. Guests in this room category receive the following special services: filled minibar in the room upon arrival, free use of the safe, and early check-in/late check-out (subject to availability) (XO2).

Superior double room sea view upper floor Type I

With the same facilities as the superior double rooms with sea view on the upper floor, this room category is only bookable with half board (H) or half board plus (P) meal plans (HOI).

Zusatzhinweis

Star tour excursion program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos height, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and the journey continues to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the bottom of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nuns' Valley). Continue to Monte, where you visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker toboggans. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village where the famous black scabbardfish – Espada – is caught). We continue via Cabo Girão (at 580m, Europe's highest sea cliff), and then the path takes us along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta do Sol, we go uphill to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, we go downhill to Porto Moniz to the natural sea swimming pools. The lunch break is taken here. The return journey is via the north coast, leading through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, we go uphill via the Encumeada pass (1007m), where one can see the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). The descent is then to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which has been named a World Heritage Site. The journey continues to Santana, known for its thatched houses. The lunch break is taken here. Afterwards, we head to Pico do Facho. Then return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion takes us, after an approx. 1.5-hour Levada hike (difficulty: easy), to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its approx. 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and tour included).

Directions from Funchal Airport (FNC): Take the expressway in the direction of Funchal/Camara de Lobos. Leave the expressway at the "Santa Rita" exit (right). Turn right again and then go under a bridge. After this bridge, take the second possible exit to the right (after approx. 200 m).
