Location

The popular hotel, with a magnificent view over the sea, is terraced into the coast above the pebble beach of Arieiro. The island capital, Funchal, with its vibrant old town and many sights, is approx. 6 km away. The cozy fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is just approx. 2 km away and can be reached directly via the adjacent seaside promenade. A complimentary shuttle bus to Funchal runs several times a day (Monday to Friday).

The adults-only Hotel Orca Praia is modern and comfortably furnished, featuring a total of 128 rooms, a reception, elevator, lounge, Sunset Bar, and a panoramic restaurant with a magnificent view over the Atlantic. A paved path leads to a rock-bordered bathing plateau at sea level with a freshwater swimming pool, 'Ocean' snack bar, and sun terrace (pool towels available for a deposit; sun loungers and parasols included).

The double rooms with sea view (without balcony) have the same facilities as the Superior double rooms with sea view, but without a balcony. There is a small step on the way from the elevator to the room. (DM)

Superior double room sea view

The pleasantly furnished Superior double rooms with sea view (approx. 28 m²) are equipped with shower/WC, hairdryer, cable and satellite TV, telephone, air conditioning, rental safe (for a fee), Wi-Fi (included), and balcony. All rooms have a sea view, minibar/refrigerator, kettle, and Nespresso machine (DMU).
Also bookable as a single room with a single bed (DME).
Additionally bookable as a Young Traveller Room at a special price in summer 26 and winter 26/27. All travelers must be between 18 and 29 years old (YTR).

Superior double room sea view Type I

With the same facilities as the Superior double rooms with sea view, this room category is only bookable with half board (H) and half board plus (P) meal plans (DIM).

Superior double room sea view upper floors

Correspond to the Superior double rooms with sea view, are exclusively bookable via Schauinsland-Reisen, are located on the upper four floors, and thus offer a fantastic view over the Atlantic. Guests in this room category receive the following special services: stocked minibar in the room upon arrival, free use of the safe, and early check-in/late check-out (subject to availability) (XO2).

Superior double room sea view upper floor Type I

With the same facilities as the Superior double rooms with sea view on the upper floor, this room category is only bookable with half board (H) and half board plus (P) meal plans (HOI).

Superior junior suite sea view

The Superior junior suites with sea view have the same facilities as the Superior double rooms with sea view but are more spacious at approx. 37 m² (2JM).

The Superior suites with sea view have the same facilities as the Superior double rooms with sea view but are larger and feature 2 separate bedrooms. The minimum occupancy is 4 people (SUM).

Zusatzhinweis

Star Tour excursion program (subject to change/daily arrival possible):
Eira do Serrado/Monte (Monday/Thursday): Discover the most beautiful panoramas of Madeira on this half-day tour. From the Pico dos Barcelos vantage point, you overlook the bay of Funchal, and then continue to Eira do Serrado, from where you can look down to the bottom of an extinct volcano. At the very bottom lies the village of Curral das Freiras (Nuns' Valley). Continue to Monte, where you will visit the church of Nossa Senhora do Monte. On the way back, you have the opportunity to ride the traditional wicker toboggans. (Not included in the price)
Porto Moniz (Wednesday/Friday): Departure towards Câmara de Lobos (fishing village, where the famous Espada – black scabbardfish – is caught). The tour continues via Cabo Girão (Europe's highest cliff at 580m), and then the path leads along the coast to Ribeira Brava. From Ponta do Sol, it goes uphill to the Pául da Serra plateau (1400m). Finally, it goes downhill to Porto Moniz to the natural sea swimming pools. This is where the lunch break is taken. The return journey is via the north coast, leading through Seixal to São Vicente. From there, it goes uphill over the Encumeada pass (1007m), where you can see the north and south coasts simultaneously. Afterwards, return to Funchal.
Santana (Tuesday/Saturday): Departure into the mountains via Poiso towards Pico do Arieiro (1810m). Then it goes downhill to Ribeiro Frio. Here you are in the middle of Madeira's laurel forest (Laurisilva), which has been declared a World Heritage Site. The trip continues to Santana, known for its thatched houses. This is where the lunch break is taken. Afterwards, it goes to Pico do Facho. Finally, return to Funchal.
Levada and Botanical Garden (Monday/Wednesday): The 4th and final excursion takes us, after a approx. 1.5-hour Levada hike (difficulty: easy), to the Botanical Garden, which is famous for its around 3,000 different plant species (entrance fee and guided tour included).
