The Quinta do Arco by Pestana is our top tip for those seeking peace and quiet or for couples in love. It is situated amidst green mountains in the north of Madeira and is an ideal starting point for hikes. Harmoniously integrated into the rural life of the region, you will spend tranquil days here, far away from the bustling island capital of Funchal in the south. Shopping facilities and the popular "The Arco" restaurant are located in the small village of "Arco de Sao Jorge". The center of Funchal can be reached in approximately 50 minutes by car (50 km). Madeira International Airport is approximately 37 km away. We recommend booking a rental car (EDV-Code: FNC150A).

Built in 2003, the Quinta features a total of 18 country-style accommodation units, spread across small, detached villas located in the garden. Surrounded by lush subtropical plants and fruit trees, as well as the largest rose collection Portugal has to offer, a stroll through the attractive and spacious grounds is well worth it. Further amenities at the Quinta include a reception (open 8 a.m. – midnight), the 'Casa de Cha' restaurant (open for special occasions only), a small bar with a fireplace, a pool table, a library, and 2 outdoor pools with a veranda, seating areas, and hammocks.

Decorated in a tasteful, local style, these approx. 60 m² detached villas are surrounded by subtropical gardens and feature a bathroom with a tub, toilet, and hairdryer, a lovely living area with a fireplace (firewood included in winter months), a well-equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, and breakfast table, a separate bedroom, Wi-Fi (included), cable TV, telephone, and minibar (for a fee), as well as a terrace or balcony with views of the gardens and the imposing mountains.

Villa Duplex

The Duplex Villas have the same facilities as the Villas but are larger. The bedroom is usually located on the upper floor.

BB/HB

Breakfast buffet at the "O Roseiral" restaurant. With half board, dinner is also included as a 3-course menu at the "O Roseiral" restaurant. The "O Roseiral" restaurant is located approx. 100 m away. There is no shuttle bus to the "O Roseiral" restaurant.

Important note regarding meals at Christmas

The "O Roseiral" restaurant is closed on Dec 25th. Hotel guests with the half board (HB) meal plan will receive their dinner for Dec 25th as a takeaway meal on Dec 24th. Further information will be provided to hotel guests at the hotel reception.

Seasonal information

A stay at the Quinta do Arco is particularly worthwhile in the summer months, when over 1500 rose species are in bloom and emit an irresistible fragrance. As a guest of the resort, you naturally have unlimited and free access. However, a stay is also worthwhile in the winter months, when you can sit comfortably in your villa in the evening with a glass of wine by the crackling fireplace and look back on your day.
