Location

The Quinta do Arco by Pestana is our insider tip for those seeking peace and quiet or for couples in love. It is located amidst green mountains in the north of Madeira and is ideally suited as a starting point for hikes. Harmoniously integrated into the rural life of the region, you will spend rather peaceful days here, far from the bustling island capital Funchal in the south of the island. In the small village of "Arco de Sao Jorge", you will find shops and the popular restaurant "The Arco". The center of Funchal can be reached in about 50 minutes by car (50 km). Madeira International Airport is about 37 km away. We recommend booking a rental car (EDV code: FNC150A).

The Quinta, built in 2003, has a total of 18 country-style units, spread across detached small villas set in the garden. Surrounded by lush subtropical plants and fruit trees, as well as the largest collection of roses Portugal has to offer, a stroll through the pretty and spacious grounds is worthwhile. The Quinta's other amenities include a reception (open 8 am - midnight), restaurant 'Casa de Cha' (open for special occasions only), a small bar with a fireplace, a billiard table and library, and 2 outdoor pools with verandas, seating areas, and hammocks.

Accommodation

Villa

The detached villas, decorated in a traditional and very tasteful style, are approximately 60 m² in size and are surrounded by subtropical gardens. They feature a bathtub with toilet and hairdryer, a nice living area with a fireplace (firewood included in winter months), a well-equipped kitchenette with refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster and breakfast table, a separate bedroom, Wi-Fi (included), cable TV, telephone and minibar (for a fee) and a terrace or balcony with views of the gardens and the impressive mountains.

Villa Duplex

The duplex villas have the same amenities as the villas but are larger. The bedroom is usually located on the upper floor.

The Garden View Studios have a bathroom with shower, toilet, two single beds (twin), kitchenette with microwave, electric hob, sofa bed, cable TV (flat screen), terrace and garden view.

The Side Sea View Studios have a bathroom with shower, toilet, two single beds (twin), kitchenette with microwave, electric hob, sofa bed, cable TV (flat screen), terrace and side sea view.

B&B/Half Board

Breakfast buffet-style in the "O Roseiral" restaurant. With half board, dinner is also served as a 3-course menu in the "O Roseiral" restaurant. The "O Roseiral" restaurant is approx. 100m away. There is no shuttle bus to the "O Roseiral" restaurant.

Important information about Christmas meals

The "O Roseiral" restaurant is closed on December 25th. Hotel guests with half board (HP) will receive their dinner for December 25th as a takeaway on December 24th. Further information will be provided to hotel guests at the reception in the hotel.

Seasonal information

A stay at Quinta do Arco is particularly worthwhile during the summer months, when over 1500 varieties of roses are in bloom and exude an irresistible fragrance. As a guest of the estate, you naturally have unlimited and free admission. However, a stay is also worthwhile in the winter months, when you can spend the evening cozily with a glass of wine by the crackling fireplace in your villa, reflecting on the day.
