Location

The modern "Golden Bay Boutique Hotel & Bungalows" is located in the tranquil and quiet village of Gournes, directly on the fine sandy beach. Some cafes and restaurants in the vicinity (approx. 2 km away). The Cretan capital Heraklion is approx. 15 km, Heraklion Airport approx. 11 km from the hotel.

The chicly furnished, small hotel with a total of only 42 rooms was completely renovated in 2021 and has a lobby with a 24-hour reception, luggage room, lounge, TV lounge, Wi-Fi (included) and a bar. In the beautiful outdoor area of the hotel, there is a swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas (included) and a pool bar. The restaurant "Taste by the Sea", located directly on the beach, offers a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available on the beach for a fee. Pool towels are available for a deposit.

Studio

The minimally yet cosily furnished studios have a shower/WC, hairdryer, toiletries, kitchenette (equipped with a hot plate, mini-fridge, microwave oven, kettle, toaster, dishes, and coffee/tea maker), dining table, individually controlled air conditioning/heating, safety deposit box, telephone, Wi-Fi (included), flatscreen satellite TV, and a balcony or terrace (S12). Also available for single occupancy (S11).

With the same amenities as the studios, these feature a combined living/sleeping area with 2 sofa beds and a separate bedroom, and are larger (A12).

Apartment Grand

With the same amenities as the 1-bedroom apartments, these feature an additional sofa bed and are slightly larger (A1T).

Note on Climate Resilience Levy

For stays from 01.01.2018 onwards, the Greek government charges a climate resilience levy, which must be paid by the guest locally, similar to a tourist tax. The amount depends on the type/category of accommodation and will be staggered from 0.50 Euro to 15 Euro per day and room from 01.01.2025.
