Information on Climate Resilience Levy

For stays from 01/01/2018, the Greek government is levying a climate resilience tax, which must be paid by the guest on-site, similar to a tourist tax. The amount depends on the type/category of accommodation and, as of 01/01/2025, will be tiered from 0.50 Euros to 15 Euros per day per room.

Arrival by car

From the airport (Heraklion), drive up to the national road and head towards Rethymnon, past Heraklion (over the traffic light intersection). Continue west along the coastal road. You will pass the exits for Paleokastro and Agia Pelagia and continue towards Rethymnon. The next exit is marked Sissi and Aloides; continue here towards Rethymnon. After about 15 minutes, you will reach Bali (exit on the right). Drive into the village and follow the road to the small church. It is best to ask for directions to the hotel there, as the roads are partly very narrow and winding.
